GLOBAL NETWORK SOURCING MANAGER (STARLINK)

One of the most ambitious missions that SpaceX has undertaken to date, the Starlink constellation is our solution to providing reliable internet to the entire world. Starlink is looking for Network Acquisition Manager to support Starlink Ground Network team to grow Starlink – AS14593 into one of the biggest Internet Services Provider (ISPs) in the world. In this role you will be tasked with sourcing, negotiating and contracting with ISPs, Data Center providers, IXs, and other Infrastructure services providers to stand up Starlink Points of Presence (“PoPs”) in existing and new countries of operation. This role requires a candidate who demonstrates total ownership of their respective territories, can manage multiple international vendors from different cultures effectively, create strategic partnerships, meet strict deadlines, is flexible to adjust per the engineering team needs and is a creative problem solver. The functions within the department include sourcing new suppliers, cost analysis, creating regional supplier strategy, negotiations of pricing and MSA, and collaborating cross functionally with legal, finance, AP, etc.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Securing various infrastructure resources such Colocation, IP Transit, IPLC/Backbone Capacities as needed to set up PoPs in new countries or expanding services in an established country
  • Manage Strategic Supplier Relationships, negotiate complex supplier agreements and MSA(s)
  • Work directly with cross-functional teams, including Peering team, Legal, NOC, AP, Finance to design the ideal infrastructure for the assigned region
  • Conduct market research, collect intelligence and for fiber and supplier development in your region.
  • Provide guidance to business leaders by understanding acquisition strategy, market dynamics, risk and exposure, and long-term planning

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; OR 6+ years of experience working in one or more of the following in lieu of a degree:
    • Engineering
    • Purchasing
    • Contract negotiation
    • Material or production planning
    • Operations or supply chain management
    • Material cost control
    • Master production scheduling
    • Capital equipment sourcing

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in managing high-spend portfolios (i.e. $10M+)
  • Experience managing an international supplier base or working internationally
  • Self-starting, able to identify areas for improvement with minimal direction
  • Experience with forecasting, demand planning, and lead time analysis
  • Ability to tackle complex and ambiguous problems and define operational processes
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated and able to respond quickly to a fast-moving and ever-changing environment. Capability to prioritize multiple on-going projects
  • Strong track record for achieving results; must be able to reference wins and quantify impact
  • Strong skills in data analysis using Excel, SQL and PowerBI
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills, with strong ability to communicate to all levels of internal personnel

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willingness to travel up to 20% as needed
  • Willingness to work long hours when needed to meet critical deadlines
  • May need to work irregular hours with global suppliers in different time zones

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:             

Pay range:          
Global Supply Manager/Global Network Acquisition Manager: $110,000.00 - $145,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
