Job Description

The Strategic Sourcing Director – IT leads the development and execution of global sourcing strategies across Information Technology categories, including Software & SaaS, Hardware & VARs, IT Outsourced Services, Telecom, and Software Development. This role is accountable for driving enterprise value through category strategy leadership, supplier optimization, commercial excellence, and cross‑functional partnership with IT,  Legal, Finance, and senior business stakeholders.

This position is a people and strategy leadership role, overseeing a global team of Strategic Sourcing Managers while owning executive‑level engagement, risk management, and long‑range IT sourcing roadmaps.

Key Responsibilities

Category & Strategy Leadership

  • Own and execute global IT category strategies aligned with Agilent’s technology roadmap, digital transformation, security requirements, and financial objectives

  • Translate business and IT priorities into multi‑year sourcing strategies, including supplier consolidation, innovative partnerships, and demand shaping

  • Lead complex, high‑value sourcing initiatives (RFPs, negotiations, renewals) with enterprise‑wide impact

Supplier & Commercial Management

  • Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and manage supplier relationships to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Conduct regular performance reviews and negotiate contracts.

  • Risk Management: Assess and mitigate risks associated with supplier relationships and procurement processes. Develop contingency plans to ensure business continuity.

  • Market Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to stay informed about industry trends, pricing, and best practices. Use this information to make informed sourcing decisions.

Stakeholder & Executive Partnership

  • Serve as the primary sourcing partner to IT leadership, including CIO‑level stakeholders , CFO and Chief Transformation Officer.

  • Partner closely with Information Security, Legal, Finance, Privacy, and Compliance to ensure sourcing decisions meet enterprise standards

  • Influence senior leaders through data‑driven insights, market intelligence, and clear articulation of trade‑offs

  • Compliance: Ensure all sourcing activities comply with company policies, legal requirements, and ethical standards.

Financial & Performance Accountability

  • Deliver measurable outcomes across cost reduction P&L savings, cost avoidance, risk mitigation, and service improvement

  • Own savings pipeline and performance governance for IT categories, aligned to One Procurement and Ignite expectations

  • Ensure sourcing activities support budget predictability, scalability, and long‑term value creation

People & Organizational Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop a global IT sourcing team, fostering strong talent bench, succession readiness, and high engagement

  • Set clear expectations, priorities, and accountability across the team

  • Drive consistent adoption of sourcing processes, tools, and governance across regions

  • Reporting and Analytics: Develop and maintain reporting mechanisms to track sourcing performance, supplier metrics, and cost savings. Present findings to senior management.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field. MBA or relevant certification (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) preferred

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in IT sourcing, procurement, or category leadership, including global scope

  • 5+ years of experience formally or informally leading people, projects and/or programs

  • Demonstrated success leading enterprise‑scale IT sourcing strategies (Software/SaaS, Cloud, IT Services, Hardware)

  • Deep understanding of IT commercial models, licensing structures, and contracting risks

  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools

  • Ability to lead and manage cross-functional global teams

  • Strategic thinker with a results-oriented approach

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Strong ethical standards and integrity

Additional Details

This job has a full time weekly schedule. It includes the option to work remotely. Applications for this job will be accepted until at least March 26, 2026 or until the job is no longer posted.

The full-time equivalent pay range for this position is $143,760.00 - $269,550.00/yr plus eligibility for bonus, stock and benefits. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
