Job Overview
We’re building the future of immersive, user-generated worlds, where anyone, anywhere, can connect, play, explore, and express themselves.
Join our Growth team and shape the UX that welcomes new users into VRChat and keeps them coming back. From onboarding flows and platform entry points to cross-platform navigation and feature discovery, you’ll work alongside a design lead to drive features that expand the reach and daily value of VRChat’s social ecosystem.
This is a great fit for a designer who enjoys building the invisible glue that helps users succeed. If you have experience solving growth problems, value clarity, and can create seamless, cross-platform UX, we’d love to hear from you!
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with your design lead, PMs, and engineers to design high-impact features across the user lifecycle: onboarding, activation, re-engagement, and retention.
- Craft intuitive, welcoming experiences that help new users get oriented, especially those entering via mobile, desktop, or non-VR pathways.
- Turn fuzzy problem spaces into tangible product design and validate your work with team feedback, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing.
- Help us explore and integrate Figma plugins, design tokens, or other emerging workflows that improve design velocity and collaboration. We’re especially excited by folks who stay curious and aren’t afraid to try what’s new and next.
- Collaborate across teams to ensure that growth features are integrated thoughtfully into the broader product ecosystem.
- Codify system guidance and documentation so it’s usable by product teams, engineers, and community contributors alike.
- Contribute to a culture of human-centered systems thinking and champion high-quality craft across design and engineering.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
- You have 4+ years of experience designing consumer-facing digital products, and at least 2 years working directly on or contributing to a design system.
- You’re comfortable with design systems and love contributing to scalable, modular UI that makes the whole product more coherent. You have strong familiarity with Figma component libraries.
- You’re motivated by impact. You enjoy connecting your work to measurable outcomes and iterating quickly based on what you learn.
- You’re a strong communicator who can explain design tradeoffs and walk others through the “why” behind your decisions.
- You understand that done is better than perfect, and you know when to prioritize momentum over polish.
- You’re never done learning, and you love to teach others what you’ve learned. You approach design challenges with curiosity, always seeking better ways to scale, support, and evolve how teams build together.
- You operate autonomously. You take full ownership of your work and drive your personal development. And you take responsibility for every last detail, every step of the way.
Bonus Points
- Familiarity with growth levers such as referrals, notifications, upsell flows, or lifecycle messaging.
- Experience designing for 3D, VR, AR, or spatial interfaces, and an understanding of the design challenges unique to immersive environments.
- Comfort designing across multiple input modes (mouse, touch, gamepad, VR controllers, hand tracking).
- A personal interest in social VR, online communities, or the future of digital self-expression.
👋 Not sure if you meet every single requirement?
We’d still love to hear from you! We know great designers come from all kinds of backgrounds, and we’re ultimately looking for a proactive do-er, a human-centered systems thinker, and genuinely great to work with. If you’re excited to help shape the future of social VR and build design foundations that scale, we encourage you to apply!
Where You’ll Be
This is a remote-first role. Work from wherever you do your best thinking. We’re a fully distributed company with team members across the globe. While we work asynchronously, overlap with U.S. time zones is needed for team collaboration.
