Head of Finance, M-KOPA Mobility

The Head of Finance's purpose is to make sure M-KOPA Mobility is resourced to grow, translate capital into vehicle and operations at speed and efficiency, and provide leadership and investors a view of business performance they can trust and act on.

You will achieve this purpose by leading finance for M-KOPA Mobility: supporting fundraising strategy and execution, owning the business plan and budget, producing clear reporting that lets leadership understand and improve business performance, and running Mobility’s treasury and procurement execution within the Group framework.

Mobility is a fast-growing, early stage business unit within M-KOPA’s wider Group. It operates autonomously with the agility needed to act on an early stage and dynamic market opportunity. It draws on Group Finance for its accounting backbone, follows Group finance policies and controls, and it held to Big 4 audit standards

Key Responsibilities:

  • Capital strategy & fundraising:

    • Own the Mobility financial model, maintaining its structure, assumptions and outputs so it is the single source of truth for planning, capital raising and decision-making

    • Work with the Managing Director to shape Mobility's capital strategy, including capital structure options, sequencing of raises, and funding sources

    • Lead finance data collection and preparation for due diligence, working with Group Finance so requests are answered accurately and on time

    • Prepare and present portfolio analysis and performance to investors and lenders

  • Financial reporting:

    • Work with the M-KOPA Group finance team to review and interrogate management accounts and the monthly close for Mobility, ensuring accuracy and clarity

    • Lead monthly business performance reviews, helping M-KOPA leadership to understand business performance, key drivers, and prioritize improvement opportunities

    • Work with the Head of Portfolio to reconcile credit loss and recovery numbers across portfolio metrics and accounting views, so priced and reported risk agree

    • Prepare the financial content of the board reporting pack, and keep business unit and Group reporting consistent

    • Oversee statutory and tax filings delivered through the Group finance backend, and ensure Mobility's controls and records meet Group policy and Big 4 audit standards

  • Financial planning & analysis:

    • Own the annual business plan, budget, and financial targets for Mobility

    • Build the finance systems for the business unit, including reporting and insights that give leadership a clear, timely view of commercial and financial performance

    • Represent Finance in decisions on pricing, retention economics and new investment cases, bringing the unit economics behind each

  • Treasury execution:

    • Oversee funding and payment execution inside the Group delegation framework

    • Forecast Mobility's cash and funding needs, and work with Group Treasury on the capital Mobility draws for growth and working capital

  • Procurement:

    • Manage the Mobility procurement team, setting purchasing policy and approval limits for the division

    • Ensure Group procurement policies are strictly adhered to while enabling Mobility's rapid growth with speed and cost-efficiency

This is a central role serving all Mobility markets, a member of the Mobility Leadership Team, and the first point of contact for Finance matters raised by the Managing Director, the General Manager and the Head of Portfolio.

Experience
  • 10+ years in finance, including senior roles in a fast-growing, capital-intensive or lending business

  • Raising debt or equity, from building the model and materials through due diligence to close

  • Owning a business plan and budget, and holding reported numbers to it with leadership and investors

  • Running reporting that meets Group policy and audit standards, ideally within a multi-entity group

  • Working with credit or risk teams to reconcile priced risk against actual portfolio performance

  • Leading teams and holding a seat at the leadership table, influencing decisions beyond their own function

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
