About the Role

We’re looking for a Head of Product Design to lead and build the next generation of Huckleberry’s mobile product offerings.

As the Head of Product Design, you will operate in 3 key areas: strategy, execution, and leadership.  You will define and drive our product vision by translating user insights and business needs into a clear, forward-looking design strategy. You’ll lead and own new end-to-end design cycles, turning deep user understanding and data into intuitive, elegant experiences that unlock everyday magic for our users. At the same time, you will lead, mentor, and manage a talented team of designers, furthering a design ethos culture that creates delightful, beautifully simple, and easy-to-use products through thoughtful design reviews

If our mission and our approach resonate with you,  this could be your next adventure.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Lead and own end-to-end new product design,  ensuring solutions align with user needs and business goals.
  • Create brand new products and experiences that solve user needs in creative, delightful, and innovative ways by deeply understanding user behaviors, motivations, and pain points, and advocating for user-centered design decisions.
  • Lead and manage the Product Design team, providing clear direction, coaching, and mentorship through design reviews, constructive feedback, and continuous development.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to define problems, prototype ideas, and deliver high-quality experiences that ship to users.
  • Leverage data and insights to inform design decisions, validate concepts, and measure impact.
  • Maintain a high standard of craft through thoughtful use of design tools and develop design processes and systems that showcase clear reasoning and user-centric decision-making.
  • Drive innovation by staying curious and informed about evolving design trends, technologies, and best practices, sharing learnings to elevate the team’s collective expertise.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of product design experience, with a strong focus on mobile app design.
  • 3+ years of experience leading and managing Product Design teams, with a demonstrated ability to coach and mentor designers, and elevate team performance through structured design reviews and feedback.
  • Track record of creating new products or experiences in emerging or undefined spaces.
  • Deep understanding of user-centered design principles, usability, and accessibility.
  • Demonstrated ability using data and user feedback to inform, validate, and refine design decisions.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to connect design solutions to business goals and metrics.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with experience partnering closely with engineers, product managers, and researchers to deliver impactful user experiences.
  • Strong curiosity about new design trends, emerging technologies, and best-in-class experiences.
  • Proven track record of building, maintaining, and extending design systems to create consistency across products.
  • A portfolio that clearly demonstrates design thinking, decision-making process, and measurable impact on product outcomes.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
