Lead the design of integrated robotic systems, managing system architectures and driving milestones from initial development to full integration, collaborating with teams across disciplines.
The summary above was generated by AI
Arm is extending its "Arm everywhere" vision into robotics and embodied AI, where intelligence must operate under real-world constraints of latency, power, and safety.
We are building a new robotics research lab in Austin focused on the science of integration, understanding how different paradigms (learning, control, planning) work together in real robotic systems, and how they map onto heterogeneous compute.
Overview:
This role sits at the core of the lab's mission: defining and building integrated robotic systems that bring together diverse forms of intelligence under real-world constraints.
You will lead the design and realization of end-to-end robotic systems across multiple embodiments, driving the lab's system-level milestones-from initial bring-up through fully integrated demonstrations. This includes orchestrating capabilities across time, compute, and system layers, and translating insights into requirements for next-generation Arm architectures.
Responsibilities:
  • Define system architectures that integrate perception, reasoning, planning, and control
  • Lead end-to-end system bring-up, integration, and validation across robotic platforms
  • Drive execution of system-level milestones (baseline, benchmarking, prototypes, full systems)
  • Coordinate across ML, perception, control, and systems to ensure coherent integration
  • Translate system bottlenecks into requirements for Arm compute and software platforms
  • Collaborate across Arm and external partners to ground research in real-world use cases

Required Skills and Experience :
  • Strong experience in robotics systems integration and architecture
  • Expertise in robotics middleware (e.g., ROS2) and distributed systems
  • Experience building and deploying end-to-end robotic systems
  • Strong programming skills (C++ and/or Python)
  • Ability to lead cross-domain efforts in ambiguous, research-driven environments
  • Publications in top-tier venues

"Nice To Have" Skills and Experience :
  • Experience with heterogeneous compute (CPU/GPU/NPU/MCU)
  • Experience with multi-robot or distributed systems
  • Background spanning both research and production systems

In Return:
You will help define how learning-based intelligence is realized and deployed in real robotic systems, shaping both Arm's research direction and the architectures that will power robots at global scale!

Hybrid Working at Arm
Arm's approach to hybrid working is designed to create a working environment that supports both high performance and personal wellbeing. We believe in bringing people together face to face to enable us to work at pace, whilst recognizing the value of flexibility. Within that framework, we empower groups/teams to determine their own hybrid working patterns, depending on the work and the team's needs. Details of what this means for each role will be shared upon application. In some cases, the flexibility we can offer is limited by local legal, regulatory, tax, or other considerations, and where this is the case, we will collaborate with you to find the best solution. Please talk to us to find out more about what this could look like for you.
Equal Opportunities at Arm
Arm is an equal opportunity employer, committed to providing an environment of mutual respect where equal opportunities are available to all applicants and colleagues. We are a diverse organization of dedicated and innovative individuals, and don't discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
