🚀 The Vision: Building the Operating System for Product Creation

Since 2013, THE/STUDIO has been building the definitive operating system for product creation. We are combining modern SaaS technology with custom manufacturing to make producing physical goods as seamless, fast, and scalable as launching software.

We operate two core platforms: Customize Now (our best-in-class, on-demand manufacturing platform) and Source Anything (our new SaaS product that enables customers to seamlessly work with global factories beyond our own network).

We are a profitable, previously Silicon Valley-backed, fully remote company, and we are not just looking to improve manufacturing, we are looking for a visionary operator to help us truly revolutionize the global supply chain.

💻 The Role

We are seeking a hands-on, player-coach Head of Sales to lead, build, and optimize our entire inside sales, outbound, and revenue operations framework.

This is not a traditional "sitting-in-meetings" executive role. You will be on the ground, breathing startup culture, and driving growth across our two primary business units: Customize Now and Source Anything. We are looking for an entrepreneurial leader who possesses a relentless curiosity and excels at converting big strategic ideas into fast, revenue-generating action.

In this role, you will run a lean team structure, working directly with the CEO to align macro business goals with daily execution and with the Sales Manager who will work with you, collaborating on designing playbooks, jumping onto calls, analyzing data, and ruthlessly optimizing pipelines from the trench lines.

What You’ll Do

Hands-on Leadership & Revenue Operations

  • Own the day-to-day revenue operations, working in close and direct alignment with the CEO to drive macro sales forecasting, territory optimization, and business unit economics.

  • Lead a lean sales organization, ensure daily pipeline excellence, proper division of labor, and consistent target achievement.

  • Get your hands dirty in the data to proactively surface pipeline insights, metrics, and bottlenecks to the CEO, implementing workforce planning and data-driven operational adjustments.

  • Play a pivotal role in our strategic planning process, designing sales incentives and defining high-velocity go-to-market strategies.

Startup Sales Execution & Channel Effectiveness

  • Design, test, and rapidly iterate on multi-channel outbound sequences, cold calling/email scripts, and inbound playbooks for both Customize Now and Source Anything.

  • Formulate targeted sales campaigns in direct partnership with Marketing (structuring channel strategies, trade discounts, and strategic buyer incentives).

  • Stay obsessed with our core front-end velocity metrics: sub-5-minute speed-to-lead windows, mockup delivery rates, and quote conversion.

  • Jump into the trenches yourself when needed to handle complex objections, manage high-value accounts, and help the team close critical deals.

People, Culture & Team Management

  • Cultivate a transparent, high-energy, and zero-ego startup culture focused on rapid execution, empowering reps, and absolute accountability.

  • Identify critical talent gaps within our lines of business (LOBs) and ensure key roles are staffed by high-performers.

  • Develop practical individual growth plans for your team, reviewing progress periodically to cultivate the next generation of sales leaders.

💡 The Profile We’re Looking For (Our Core Pillars)

Our Founder/CEO defines our top performers by three distinct traits. If this describes how you operate, you will thrive here:

  1. Raw Intelligence & Problem-Solving: High processing power, business acumen, and logical reasoning. You can think on your feet, connect complex ideas, and break down ambiguous problems quickly.

  2. "Give a Shit" Energy (Extreme Ownership): You take 100% accountability for your domain and outcomes. You don't make excuses or blame external factors. You look inward, find solutions, and push across the finish line.

  3. Rapid Adaptation & Radical Candor: You embrace blunt, constructive feedback and pivot instantly without ego. You excel in a fast-moving environment where you need to act with urgency without waiting for hand-holding.

What We’re Looking For
  • The Startup Master: 7+ years of relevant experience in Sales and Business Development with at least 4+ years specifically managing closing or outbound teams within a fast-paced startup, SMB, or e-commerce environment.

  • Direct Executive Experience: Proven track record of working directly with a CEO or executive founders to scale operations and convert high-level strategic visions into concrete pipeline performance.

  • Grit Over Title: Proven experience building process-heavy operations in flat organizations. You are customer-centric, laser-focused on metrics, and prefer execution over corporate delegation.

  • Master of the Sales Stack: Deep tactical comfort with setting up CRM workflows (Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive), automated sequencing, data analytics, and customer relationship management programs.

  • Charismatic & Collaborative: An exceptionally charismatic leader with a natural ability to inspire teams, who also collaborates fluidly cross-functionally to bring different departments together toward a common goal.

  • Objection Handling Expert: You know how to command a room, interrupt patterns on a cold call, sell on value rather than price, and teach your team to do the same.

  • Global & Timezone Alignment: Proven experience working with distributed remote teams. Full availability to work directly during US Eastern and Pacific Timezone hours to stay in lockstep with our team and customers.

💰 Compensation & Terms
  • Flexible & Competitive: We don't let rigid corporate salary bands get in the way of hiring elite, high-ownership talent. We offer competitive, outcome-driven compensation packages tailored to the candidate's level of impact.

  • Engagement Type: Full-time, exclusive independent contractor role.

🔎 Our Hiring Process
  1. Submit Application: IMPORTANT! Please submit your resume/CV in English

  2. Initial Screen: Brief intro chat to evaluate mutual fit, communications, and expectations.

  3. Hiring Manager / Team Interview: Deep dive into your hard skills, past track record, and problem-solving approach.

  4. Assessment / Case Study: (If applicable for the role) Practical demonstration of your capabilities.

  5. Final Executive Interview: Conversation with key team members.

  6. Reference Checks: Verification of past performance with former leaders and CEOs.

Note that every role is different, so the process may vary depending on the requirements of the role. Please note that due to the volume of applications we receive, we may not be able to provide feedback to all applications.

THE/STUDIO is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive, high-performance culture free from discrimination.

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
