Working at Atlassian
Atlassians can choose where they work - whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity. Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.
As the Head of Technical Program Management, you will provide executive leadership to drive strategy, execution, and transformation across complex technical domains. You will lead and develop a high-performing organization, partnering closely with engineering, product, and business leaders to deliver business-critical programs and solutions at scale. This is a highly cross-functional role with broad influence, responsible for breaking down technical barriers, strengthening systems, and ensuring the success of major initiatives across the company.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Leadership: Define and drive the long-term vision, strategy, and roadmap across multiple domains or business units.
  • Program Delivery: Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of complex, cross-functional technical programs, including initiation, planning, execution, forecasting, budgeting, and delivery.
  • Stakeholder Management: Partner with senior engineering, product, and business leaders to align technical programs with business objectives and priorities.
  • Team Development: Build, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of TPMs and TPM managers, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Systematic Problem Solving: Take a systematic approach to solving highly technical engineering problems, including prioritization, scoping, and progress tracking.
  • Technical Influence: Leverage deep technical understanding to influence architectural decisions and drive progress on critical engineering challenges.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Extensive experience (typically 12+ years) in product management, technical program management, engineering, or related leadership roles within leading technology companies.
  • Proven track record of leading high-performing teams and delivering large-scale, complex technical programs.
  • Strong strategic thinking and ability to translate business objectives into actionable technical programs.
  • Deep technical understanding of modern systems, architectures, and platforms (coding not required, but must understand system flows, APIs, etc.).
  • Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
