Polychain is looking for a highly crypto native Cryptocurrency Hedge Fund Analyst who has the ability to proactively identify and implement strategic, liquid investments in protocols with the mission of accelerating the global adoption of cryptocurrency. The candidate should have a deep understanding of cryptocurrencies, distributed systems, liquid secondary markets and related infrastructure, game theory, and other subjects relevant to blockchain technology. They are a visionary who can see a clear future of Web3 despite the ever-present noise, live in the trenches, and will work tirelessly to uncover bleeding edge sectors and best-in-class protocols. The ideal candidate is ferociously analytical, detail-oriented, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and craves quantitative feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Sourcing, implementing, monitoring, and realizing liquid cryptocurrency investments.
  • Screening projects by reading protocol specifications and evaluating its technical and market-based merits.
  • Reasoning through the emerging trends in the space via quantitative and qualitative means and identifying non-obvious opportunities for deployment of capital.
  • Communicate timely cryptocurrency market and investment themes to senior management.
  • Utilize various liquidity venues for investment implementation and realization.
  • Analyzing on and offchain data to uncover and synthesize relevant cryptocurrency market trends.

Requirements

  • Solid understanding of smart contracts, cryptography, crypto-economics, and blockchain technologies generally.
  • Ability to identify unconventional trends and emerging technologies.
  • Experience and comfort using a variety of trading venues, onchain applications, and crypto-specific tooling.
  • Sharp analytical mind with a killer instinct to identify opportunities in the market.
  • Ability to aggregate information from a variety of sources including technical .repositories, social channels, onchain and market data, anecdotal feedback, and then draw informed conclusions from incomplete information.
  • Obsession with the future of blockchain technology, markets, and emergent trends.
  • An open minded research approach and genuine intellectual curiosity.
  • Understanding of statistics, quantitative analysis, and basic metrics of investment success/failure.
  • Basic coding skills (e.g. Python, C++, R, SQL) preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated excellence investing, even if in a personal capacity.
  • A degree in a technical area (i.e. mathematics, engineering or computer science) and/or technical experience is strongly preferred.

Competitive Compensation: $180,000 annual salary (dependent on experience) plus eligibility for discretionary annual performance bonus.
