HR & Recruitment Assistant
Remote | South African Hours | Entry Level with Growth Potential
We are looking for a highly dependable, professional and detail-oriented HR & Recruitment Assistant to work directly alongside our Head of Recruitment.
This is an entry-level remote position with significant room to learn and grow. The successful candidate will act as the right hand to the Head of Recruitment, assisting with the day-to-day administrative and operational work that keeps our recruitment function running smoothly.
This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in being reliable, enjoys structured administrative work, and is comfortable taking ownership of the small details that matter.
Working Hours
Monday–Friday | 08:00–17:00 SAST
This is a full-time remote position. You must be consistently available and ready to work during these hours.

Requirements
What You’ll Be Doing
Your responsibilities will include:
Capturing, updating and maintaining candidate and recruitment data
Completing repetitive administrative and data-capturing tasks accurately
Assisting with candidate screening and recruitment administration
Making and receiving phone calls when required
Following up with candidates and other relevant parties
Updating recruitment systems, spreadsheets and internal records
Keeping information organised and ensuring tasks do not fall through the cracks
Assisting the Head of Recruitment with day-to-day tasks and priorities
Following established processes and identifying when something requires attention
Taking ownership of assigned work and following tasks through to completion
Handling candidate and company information professionally and confidentially
Taking on additional HR and recruitment responsibilities as your skills and experience grow
Who We’re Looking For
We care more about attitude, reliability and work ethic than years of experience.
You should be:
Extremely dependable - if you say you are going to do something, it gets done
Professional and trustworthy
Loyal and interested in growing with the company
Highly organised and detail-oriented
Comfortable with data capturing and repetitive administrative work
Able to maintain accuracy even when a task is tedious
Comfortable speaking to people on the phone
Able to communicate professionally in writing and verbally
Comfortable receiving feedback and taking accountability for mistakes
Proactive enough to follow up rather than waiting to be reminded
Able to work independently without constant supervision
Comfortable learning new systems and processes
Willing to ask questions when unsure rather than guessing
Technical Requirements
Because this is a fully remote position, applicants must have:
A reliable fibre internet connection of at least 50 Mbps
Reliable loadshedding/power-outage provisions that allow you to continue working during outages
A suitable computer and professional remote-working environment
A reliable phone and the ability to make calls when required
These requirements are essential for the position.
Experience
This is an entry-level role, so extensive HR or recruitment experience is not required.
Previous experience in administration, recruitment, customer service, data capturing or a professional office environment will be advantageous, but we are willing to train the right person.
What matters most is that you are reliable, teachable, accountable and consistent.
Growth Opportunity
This position is intended to grow with the right person.
You will work closely with the Head of Recruitment and gain hands-on exposure to recruitment operations, candidate management, HR administration and internal processes. As you demonstrate competence and take ownership of more responsibilities, there will be opportunities to expand your role.
We are looking for someone who wants to become a trusted long-term member of the team, not simply someone looking for something temporary.
The Person Who Will Thrive Here
You don’t need to know everything on day one.
You do need to be the kind of person who can be trusted with a task, pays attention to the details, communicates when something goes wrong, learns from mistakes and becomes increasingly capable without needing to be chased.
If you are looking for an opportunity to get your foot in the door in HR and recruitment and are willing to prove yourself through consistency and hard work, we would like to hear from you.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
