As the  Human Resources Director, you will  lead people strategy across our Washington and Oregon markets. This role operates at the core of the business, partnering directly with State and Regional Directors to shape workforce strategy, elevate employee relations, strengthen compliance, and drive retention outcomes.

This is a highly visible, relationship-driven role not a back-office HR function. You’ll be embedded alongside operational leaders, influencing decisions in real time, navigating complex challenges, building trust across teams, and contributing to key planning efforts that support both employees and the broader organization.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO:

  • Employee Relations & Risk Management: Guide HRBPs through complex employee relations, investigations, and compliance matters while ensuring consistent, fair practices.
  • Retention & Workforce Insights: Analyze turnover and workforce trends to identify risks and implement strategies that improve retention and stability.
  • Operations Partnership: Collaborate with Regional and State leaders to align HR initiatives with business goals, support workforce planning, and influence decision-making.
  • Transformation & Standardization: Lead HR integration efforts, standardize processes, and drive adoption of consistent practices across multiple states.

  • HR Leadership Experience: 8+ years of progressive HR experience in multi-site or complex environments, including strategic planning, talent acquisition, workforce planning, change management, organizational development, and workers’ compensation
  • Leadership: Proven leader with 2+ years of experience managing HRBPs or equivalent roles, with proven performance management, coaching, and leadership influence.
  • HR Knowledge & Compliance: Strong knowledge of employment law and multi-state compliance, employee relations, performance management, D&I, succession planning, and organizational change.
  • Microsoft 365 &  Power BI: Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint), the ability to analyze data and create clear, actionable presentations
  • Business & Financial Acumen with Data-Driven Insights: Ability to connect HR strategy to operational and financial outcomes: including budgeting, P&L oversight, and workforce planning; while leveraging HR and financial data to generate reports, identify trends, and support strategic, data-informed decisions across the region.

NICE TO HAVE:

  • HR Technology Expertise: Experience with HRIS platforms such as Workday, UltiPro (Ultimate Software), or similar systems, along with familiarity with ATS and LMS platforms (e.g., Relias, Cornerstone).

  • Professional Certifications:  SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR.
  • Additional credentials: In Coaching, Mediation, or Project Management (PMP, CAPM)

Additional Information

SKILLS CRITICAL FOR SUCCESS:

  • HR Partnership & Execution: Translate business goals into actionable HR initiatives and implement solutions that drive performance.
  • Leadership & Influence: Build trust, coach HR team members and leaders, and navigate employee relations with professionalism.
  • Communication & Emotional Intelligence: Communicate clearly and confidently, adapt to audiences, and foster strong relationships.

Why You’ll Love This Role

This is a great  opportunity to be a trusted advisor across Washington and Oregon, stepping into complex employee relations situations, helping shape retention strategies, and supporting leaders as they work through challenges in real time. Just as important, this is a relationship-driven environment where HR is genuinely engaged in the conversation. You’ll work alongside directors who value partnership and rely on your perspective, not just your process. With a seat in both mid-year and annual planning discussions, you’re not on the sidelines you’re part of how decisions get shaped, refined, and carried forward.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
