The Role

Steel Partners is seeking a Human Resources (HR) Intern to support a variety of HR initiatives across talent development, HR operations, compensation, benefits, and HR analytics.

The HR Intern will report to Madysen Byrnes, Senior Benefits & Compensation Analyst.


Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on emerging training and professional development resources to support leadership and employee development initiatives
  • Assist with employee career development and talent planning initiatives, including tracking development opportunities and supporting program implementation
  • Generate and analyze HR reports and workforce data to identify trends and support actionable insights for HR leadership
  • Support compensation and benefits initiatives, including invoicing, reporting, and program administration
  • Provide support for recruiting coordination, employee engagement activities, and day-to-day HR operations
  • Develop HR resource materials and one-page guides on key HR topics (e.g., benefits, career development, policies, or training programs) to support employee communication and internal initiatives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the organization to support HR programs and strategic initiatives
  • Contribute to special projects and ad hoc initiatives across various areas of Human Resources as needed

Preferred Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field, or pursuing a Master’s degree in Human Resources
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, data analysis, reporting) preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
