We are looking for an experienced HR professional to join our team in our Merchandise Mart (Chicago), Princeton, NJ or Atlanta location. The Human Resources Generalist provides direct HR support to people within assigned office(s) and coordinates initiative, operational and reporting support to meet current and future business needs within the global HR organization.
What you'll do:
  • Serve as first point of contact for day-to-day HR support in assigned office(s), including but not limited to: leave administration, accommodations, benefits queries, employee concerns, onboarding, employee transitions (new hires, terms, leaves), policy advisement and compliance
  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with employee base and leaders in assigned office(s)
  • Support all stages of the employee lifecycle, from onboarding through offboarding
  • Advise employees on various HR-related matters - explain programs, interpret policies; direct queries to the appropriate Center of Excellence for tier 2 resolution, when necessary
  • Maintain accurate employee records (I-9s, personnel files, other) in the HRIS
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (e.g. FLSA, EEO, OSHA)
  • Administer, document, and adjudicate leaves of absence and medical accommodation requests, in line with documented ZS and legal guidance
  • Facilitate exit interviews and paperwork, route concerns or feedback for investigation or improvements
  • Participate in office committees and teambuilding events, reinforce firm culture and employee engagement and experience
  • Maintain knowledge of FMLA, ADA and other leave laws

What you'll bring:
  • BS in HR, Industrial/Organizational Psychology or related field with strong record of academic achievement
  • Up to 3 years of human resources experience with demonstrated experience in the scope of this role (professional services experience strongly preferred)
  • Experience working in an HRIS system (SAP, Success Factors, etc.)
  • Experience in leave administration (ADA, FMLA, state PFL, etc.)
  • Professional HR certification (such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, aPHR, PHR, or SPHR) is desired
  • Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to multi-task in a fast paced, rapidly-changing environment
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Ability to communicate with polish and establish relationships with all levels of management and employees
  • Proven collaborative skills; Strong attention to detail and analytic ability; Strong organization skills
