Oberto Snacks Inc., known for our high quality, delicious meat snacks is currently hiring for a Human Resources Generalist. 
 
This position partners with plant leadership and the HR Manager to ensure that the people and the people systems are aligned and are working to support Operations in meeting their business goals and objectives.  As a member of the Kent plant team, this position has responsibility for contributing to production results.  This includes but is not limited to; having trained staff available when needed, ensuring a positive, respectful work environment, supporting safety initiatives, developing employee education and communication systems and coordinating performance management systems.
 
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Proactively recruit to support the manufacturing process through the hiring of all hourly plant positions
  • Primary contact for the temporary agencies, manages the temporary vendor relationship and coordinates and participates in the temporary vendor selection process.
  • Partner with plant management to ensure job descriptions are up to date and open positions are filled as quickly as possible
  • Maintain the Human Resource Information System (ADP) with accurate information including new hires, transfers, rate changes, and benefit enrollment or terminations 
  • Provide employee and management support through answering questions and resolving issues pertaining to benefits, leaves of absence, and payroll.
  • Manage leaves of absence (FMLA, ADA, WPFMLA) through tracking of leave time, maintaining proper documentation, and working to coordinate benefits (STD/LTD) 
  • Administer the workers’ compensation program through claims monitoring, creating reports, and coordinating communication with employees, third-party administrators, insurance providers, and supervisors
  • Plan and create content for a variety of internal communications mediums, such as the company intranet (Beekeeper), toolbox talks, or regular email bulletins
  • Human Resources Regulatory Compliance – is familiar with all areas of HR compliance and knows when to seek out additional information in areas such as FLSA, FMLA, WPFMLA, ADA, AAP, OSHA, Cobra.  Ensures consistency in compliance with state and federal labor and employment laws as well as company policies and guidelines.  Educates supervisors and managers to ensure that the company liability is minimized.  
  • Employee Relations – provide consultation to operations leadership on employee related issues, educates regarding potential liability, supports leadership in working through individual employee issues. Interprets and explains human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards or regulations.  Conduct confidential investigations and recommends disciplinary action and solutions by collecting, analyzing and summarizing investigation information. 
  • Employee Care – employment resource/service, policy interpretation, employee communications including ensuring translation services when needed, employee events, is responsive to employee concerns and helps support employees in identifying alternatives and solutions, ensures a healthy and rewarding work environment, administers employee reward and recognition programs. 
  • Employee Safety – participate as a member of the safety committee, support plant safety through recommendations of safety programs/policies and continuous focus on employee safety and administers the workers compensation program. Assist in COVID related investigations and workplace safety initiatives. 
  • Employee Onboarding – oversees the employee new hire onboarding process, including first day orientations and benefits meetings, works to ensure new employees feel welcome and comfortable and ensure proper training is completed.
  • General Administration – conducts exit interviews, completes wage and employment verification letters and forms, completes and submits teammate change notices, files and maintains teammate records, compiles reports on teammate related data such as hires, transfers, performance appraisals, headcount and turnover rates. 
  • Follow established programs, policies, and practices to produce safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements. 
  • Assist in the planning and execution of employee events
  • Perform general reporting and analytics as requested
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Generates management reports from HRIS system and completes analysis
  • Attends HR meetings and specific Operations meetings
  • Participates in annual HR planning
  • Participates as a member of the Plant Operations Team and serves on special project teams as needed
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining
  • professional networks, participating in professional organization.
  • Back Up:  The HR Manager is a back up to the HR Generalist
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Human Resources
  • PHR/SPHR preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Human Resources
  • Experience supporting a manufacturing environment strongly preferred
  • All general areas of Human Resources – HR Generalist level
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation to provide coverage and support our offsite location
  • Microsoft Office computer software applications at a medium to expert user level
  • Well-developed writing skills
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English. Second language preferred.

Hours may vary due to providing 24/7 shift support, but typically M-F, 45-55hours per week with occasional weekend remote support and possible off shift support
