About the Role

We’re looking for a seasoned Staff Infrastructure Engineer to join our engineering team and lead the design, development, and evolution of our cloud infrastructure. In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of scaling our platform, optimizing cloud operations, and driving infrastructure best practices in a modern, services-based architecture.

You’ll work closely with the product engineering, developer experience and security teams to ensure our infrastructure is robust, secure, scalable, and aligned with our product goals. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, have deep experience in AWS and Kubernetes, and are passionate about infrastructure as code and automation, we’d love to hear from you.

What You'll Do
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available infrastructure in AWS using best practices.

  • Lead our efforts in Kubernetes (EKS) architecture, cluster management, and deployment strategies.

  • Collaborate with application and platform engineering teams to optimize microservices deployment, CI/CD workflows, and service orchestration.

  • Define and implement infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or AWS CDK.

  • Drive observability and performance monitoring strategies using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or CloudWatch.

  • Champion DevOps culture across the organization and mentor other engineers on cloud-native best practices.

  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.

  • Conduct architecture reviews, performance tuning, and capacity planning.

  • Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies, proactively recommending improvements.

What You'll Need
  • 8+ years of experience in infrastructure, DevOps, or site reliability engineering roles.

  • Strong expertise with AWS services (EC2, ECS/EKS, IAM, VPC, RDS, S3, etc.).

  • Deep hands-on experience with Kubernetes (EKS) in production environments.

  • Proficient in infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, Pulumi, or AWS CDK.

  • Experience with microservices and distributed systems architectures.

  • Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, Bash, Go).

  • Proven experience with monitoring, logging, and observability systems.

  • Solid understanding of networking, security, and cloud infrastructure best practices.

  • Experience in a high-scale, SaaS or cloud-native environment.

  • Familiarity with service meshes (e.g., Istio, Linkerd) and container runtimes.

  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, or Jenkins.

  • AWS Certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer) are a plus.

Why Join Us
  • Work on cutting-edge cloud infrastructure and architecture.

  • Make a real impact on how we scale and ship reliable services.

  • Collaborate with a team of passionate engineers in a culture of learning and growth.

  • Competitive compensation, equity, and benefits package.

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
