As a member of the Higher Education sales team in Canada, the Account Executive, Inside Sales, will work to implement selling strategies for a defined print and digital product set to achieve established sales targets and goals at accounts within an assigned sales territory.

What You’ll Do Here:
  • Plan, organize, and implement sales strategies to meet or exceed sales targets:

  • Develop and maintain a Territory Plan for managing accounts in the assigned territory using sales database tools

  • Achieve realistic sales targets for both our installed business and new business

  • Create strategic plans for high value opportunities, including sales campaigns, custom project specifications and digital presentations

  • Effectively utilize personnel and other resources, via Territory Planning process, to achieve sales objectives

  • Work with the Digital Solutions team to achieve district and territory sales objectives

  • Participate in planning process for the development of the Regional Business plan to improve use of team resources

  • Advise the Product and Marketing teams of marketing trends, competitive developments, and editorial or product improvement opportunities in the field

  • Represent and promote Cengage Learning products to all customers to achieve and/or exceed sales goals:

  • Use Consultative Selling Skills framework to conduct sales calls and build lasting relationships with decision makers and key educators at colleges, universities, and bookstores

  • Represent a specific list of resources across assigned product sets and accounts

  • Sell Digital and bundling strategies into all sales calls

  • Present strong demonstrations of full product offering: Digital and print solutions

  • Develop relationships with buyers to strategize sell-through and promotional campaigns; demonstrate an understanding of retail business

  • Attend conferences and evaluate sales/editorial opportunities as appropriate

  • Demonstrate operational excellence and proficient communication and technology skills:

  • Review sales and sampling reports to impact cost effectiveness of sales process

  • Qualify sampling needs in advance and attempt digital first, to avoid excess in shipping costs and units

  • Update and maintain customer database

  • Become comfortable using technology communication tools

  • Communicate & coordinate effectively as required with Sales Manager and other team members

  • Fulfill team support roles as required, including providing additional coverage!

Skills You Will Need Here:Basic (Required):
  • University degree

  • At least two (2) years of successful sales (or customer interaction) experience

  • Highly flexible and adaptable to change, able to achieve objectives in a fast-paced environment

  • Expert verbal and written communication skills, and strong presentation skills

  • Comfortable applying technology in performing routine job tasks and selling digital solutions

  • Outstanding organization skills and strong attention to detail with consistent follow up is crucial

  • Superior time management skills and a proven track record handling multiple tasks and competing and shifting priorities are needed

  • High energy with the ability to establish rapport with all stakeholders, including staff, customers and other members of the team

  • Demonstrated proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability

  • Highly inventive team-player, able to work collaboratively and also be extremely effective independently

  • Able to handle confidential information with discretion

  • Forward looking thinker who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions, and is driven to succeed

  • Avid learner who seeks feedback and consistently expands skills!

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, and social media web platforms

  • Ability to travel, as needed, to conferences and sales meetings

Preferred:
  • Direct sales, marketing or editorial experience

  • Knowledge and/or experience in Higher Educational market

  • Prior publishing sales experience

  • Experience working with digital sales products/applications

The full base pay range has been provided for this position. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location.  Sales roles often incorporate a significant incentive compensation program beyond this base pay range.

$50,000.00 - $60,000.00 CAD
