About the role.
The Instructional Digital Media Developer (IDMD) is responsible for creating multimedia learning assets, interactions, and interfaces for McCain's online learning projects. The IDMD works with a Learning Experience Designer (LXD) to ensure that content provided by the subject matter expert (SME) is interpreted, shaped, and translated into multimedia assets in such a way as to provide an effective and impactful online learning experience. The Developer must combine technical knowledge of multimedia authoring tools and techniques with visual design and interaction design skills and remain current with best practices for optimal user experience and web accessibility, to ensure that the use of multimedia is effective for all learners.
An ideal candidate is driven, comfortable and experienced with all elements of graphic, visual design, animation, video and e-learning creation. In addition to strong graphic and media design skills the candidate must have strong strategic and systems thinking, organization skills, experience managing small and large projects and an acute attention to detail. They must also have excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. Their work will significantly contribute to the development of diverse learning programs on a global scale.
What you'll be doing.
  • Design and create templates, images, graphics, illustrations, infographics, animations, video, audio and web style pages for use in learning activities across multiple channels.
  • Partner with the learning business partner, learning experience designer, business stakeholders and subject matter experts to build learning experiences (e-learning modules, videos, infographics, presentations, job aids, templates and web pages).
  • Provide consultation to learning and SME's regarding feasibility and sustainability of multimedia development approaches to meet learning objectives.
  • Create rapid lo-fi prototypes and mockups and revise iteratively to meet LXD's and SME's requirements.
  • Manage learning assets, graphics, media designs and multiple complex development projects from conception to delivery.
  • Develop and establish learning brand assets, technical standards, style and brand guidelines to ensure consistency across all projects.
  • Create user assignment groups based on org structures or target audiences in Enterprise LMS.
  • Assign learning content (Courses, Learning Paths, Curricula) to User Groups in Enterprise LMS.
  • Manage all elements of the McCain Learning content library in the Enterprise LMS - organizing the library, search metadata, course descriptions, communications, driving use, etc.
  • Publish internally produced e-learning content to the Enterprise LMS (SCORM, publish settings, tracking settings)
  • Practical experience in digital design, user experience design and human centred design principles.
  • Design and develop media assets to provide effective, engaging experiences for employees.
  • Innovate in the creation and development of learning programs and content, adding strategic value to the McCain organization.
  • Utilize agile digital design and distribution methods (online, classroom, or blended) to match content and learner profiles, while adhering to customer timelines and expectations.
  • Keep up to date with industry developments and contribute with innovation and new ways of delivering and designing learning for McCain.
  • Support the creation and ongoing refinement of learning design and technical standards, development processes and service level agreements.

What you'll need to be successful.
  • Post secondary education with certification in digital design and / or digital learning.
  • Practical experience in instructional media design, e-learning courseware authoring, user experience design and human centred design principles.
  • Media skills: image editing, audio editing, animation, video editing, and courseware authoring tools.
  • Media tools: Adobe Creative Suite, Articulate Studio (Storyline), Lectora, Vyond, and AI assisting/enabling tools (image creation and enhancement, voice generators).
  • Learning / Media Platforms and standards: AICC, SCORM (1.2 and 2004), xAPI, SuccessFactors LMS, Degreed, Vimeo, Vyond, SharePoint, MS Viva, or others.
  • Practical experience in web design, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Strong project management, organizational and prioritization skills to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and global environment.
  • Experience working in a changing environment with ambiguous conditions, dealing with both internal and external customers, including cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with senior colleagues and other COEs and HR areas to ensure the design of aligned, scalable and integrated solutions.

Compensation Package : $81,600.00 - $108,900.00 CAD annually
The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience, skill set, education/training, and other organizational needs.
