At Micron's Clay, New York site, you will contribute to a historic expansion that is helping shape the future of memory technology.
As an Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Engineer, you will lead the coordination and oversight of third-party engineering partners responsible for control system designs supporting advanced semiconductor manufacturing facilities. This role offers the opportunity to drive technical excellence, ensure system reliability and compliance, and support the successful delivery of complex construction projects. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, external design firms, contractors, and vendors to deliver high-performing control systems that enable safe and efficient operations.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead and validate third-party designs for PLC, SCADA, DCS, and field instrumentation systems
  • Review control system architectures, loop diagrams, specifications, and design deliverables for compliance with project requirements and industry standards
  • Evaluate system performance, reliability, cybersecurity, and integration across facility infrastructure systems
  • Perform design quality reviews and risk assessments to address constructability, operational, and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with design partners, contractors, and internal teams to support system integration, commissioning, and startup activities

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of instrumentation and controls engineering experience, including at least 2 years coordinating third-party designs or managing design processes
  • Strong knowledge of PLC, SCADA, DCS, and industrial instrumentation systems in manufacturing, industrial, or high-tech environments
  • Familiarity with industry standards including ISA, IEC, NFPA 70, ISA 5.1, ISA 88, and functional safety requirements
  • Proficiency reviewing engineering deliverables using tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, or control system design software

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional certifications such as PE, ISA CCST, or CFSE
  • Experience coordinating I&C designs for semiconductor, pharmaceutical, data center, or other advanced technology facilities
  • Knowledge of industrial control system cybersecurity standards, including IEC 62443, and Industry 4.0 technologies
  • Experience with BIM-based design coordination, clash detection, and multidisciplinary system integration
  • Experience working with Agentic AI tools to assist with design and verification

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:
$118,000.00 - $200,000.00 a year
Additional compensation may include benefits, bonuses and equity.
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
