This is a paid internship, range of $22/hr - $39/hr (depending on role and qualifications) for those currently pursuing undergraduate degrees and higher rates for those currently pursuing graduate level degrees.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
Under the Finance & Business Administration (FB&A) Department, and within the Information Technology Division, the IT Applications team at Sound Transit is responsible for planning, delivering, and supporting the agency’s portfolio of mission-critical software solutions that enable business operations, enhance the passenger experience, and support data-driven decision making. This team collaborates across departments to implement, maintain, and continually improve applications using modern product management and software delivery practices, while fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and inclusion.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

JOB DUTIES:
- Assist in creating, updating, and organizing training materials, procedure documents, and run-books to support team knowledge sharing and onboarding.
Configure and build reports and dashboards to visualize key metrics and support data-driven decision-making. - Participate in gathering business requirements and support user acceptance testing to ensure solutions meet stakeholder needs.
Provide assistance with systems administration. - Utilize Agile Scrum methodologies to prioritize and track work.
- Collaborate with IT Applications team members and cross-functional partners to deliver high-quality solutions and continuous improvement
POTENTIAL PROJECTS:
- Join the team implementing the Kahua Project Management Information System (PMIS) – support the implementation (large ongoing project) of a system designed to streamline collaboration, document management, and workflow automation for capital projects at Sound Transit and forever be a part of Sound Transit’s mission to connect more people to more places within the Puget Sound Region.
- Support the migration and metadata mapping of projects from SharePoint into the Kahua File Manager, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
Help onboard Service Delivery projects in Kahua by setting up project structures, permissions, and documentation. - Additional project opportunities depend on skillset and timing of the internship to our current project implementation stage.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must be a current college student in good academic standing, enrolled in an accredited associate, bachelor's or graduate degree program in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, Product Management, Project Management, Business Analysis, or Systems Analysis, or relevant two-year certificate.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Adaptable to company-driven documentation standards.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with or knowledge of project management or business analysis methodologies.
- Familiarity with data analysis and reporting tools such as Excel, Power BI, or similar platforms.
- Experience or knowledge of Agile/SCRUM methodologies.
- Prior coursework or experience in project management, business analysis, or information technology administration.
- Understanding of data privacy and confidentiality standards.
- Experience with enterprise systems (e.g., SharePoint, Kahua, or other PMIS platforms).
- Exposure to requirements gathering, user acceptance testing, or system documentation.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work is performed in a standard office environment.
- May be subject to standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping, and lifting of objects up to 25 pounds; may occasionally be exposed to dangerous machinery when visiting job sites during construction and when working in the field.
