WHO WE ARE: At Fors Marsh, we take on issues that matter. We are a team of researchers, strategists, and communicators working together to drive lasting change. We look at human behavior from all angles with a deep understanding of people and context to design solutions that influence decision-making and move people to action. Our work promotes health and well-being, shapes resilient communities, and builds effective and accountable institutions. We are a certified B Corporation and a Top Workplace for 7 consecutive years.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

We are looking for a Junior Content Specialist who can own the content that keeps our people informed, connected, and proud to work here. This role sits inside a small, agile Corporate Marketing and Communications team and will produce our internal newsletter, support internal communications across the company, and contribute to social and corporate content that reflects who Fors Marsh is externally.

The best person for this job will take the time to understand what Fors Marsh does, learn the voice, and develop the instincts to modulate tone when it should be energetic, or measured and precise. The more range you bring, writing, visual storytelling, coordination, AI assisted work-flows, the more opportunity you will find here. Some of the work will be writing and storytelling and some will be coordination and execution. If you are someone who takes content seriously, learns fast, and wants to grow inside an organization that will give you room to do it, we want to hear from you.

Core Responsibilities

Internal Comms

• Supporting internal communications across the company, from producing our newsletter, to drafting announcements, coordinating with leadership, and helping make sure information moves clearly and on time. That means learning what is worth telling, how to tell it in the right register, and making sure it reaches people in a way that actually gets read

• Managing the content on our SharePoint based intranet, and developing the judgment to know where information should live, how it should be organized, and what employees need to find things easily

• Work with teams, leaders, groups of employees across Fors Marsh to surface timely updates, meaningful moments, and content worth sharing

Brand and Corporate Support

• Contribute to social media and corporate content that reflects Fors Marsh’s voice, work, and culture like awards, milestone moments, and the stories that show who we are

• Help identify moments and achievements that begin inside the company but may have value beyond it and can support how Fors Marsh shows up externally

• Support conference and events content and logistics. May help manage branded materials and giveaway inventory so the team knows what we have, where it is, and can help get it to and from the event site

Communications Operations and AI Enabled Workflows

• Use AI tools to work smarter (workflow efficiency, content ideation) without losing the judgment and craft that makes content worth reading

• Help keep communications moving by supporting timelines, inputs, approvals, publishing rhythms, and the coordination behind clean execution

Minimum Qualifications

• 2-5 years of experience producing content

• Strong writing. Clear, adaptable, and able to shift register/tone depending on what the moment calls for

• Curiosity about the work. You do not need to know all of it on day one but you need to want to learn it

• Strong relationship-building and communications skills

• Familiarity with AI tools for content workflows. Willingness to learn and experiment is required

• Comfort with a small team and a varied workload. Some days are newsletter days. Some days are something else entirely. You adapt without losing quality

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field

• Ability to work on-site in the Arlington, VA area 2-3 days a week or as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with newsletters, intranet content, and/or employee communications

• Experience with SharePoint or other content management systems

• Experience using social platforms and content development apps

We Offer:

Our benefits typically meet or exceed our competitors’ packages. What’s in it for you?

• Ability to make an impact on people’s lives, both internal and external to the organization.

• Top-tier health, dental, vision, and long and short-term disability coverage all covered at 100% for employee coverage.

• Our company culture, which values balance and allows each employee to take leave as they require it to balance the responsibilities of both their work and home lives without worrying about depleting their available leave hours.

• A floating holiday bank so you can celebrate the days you value.

• Generous matching retirement contributions and no vesting period starting the third month of employment.

• Dedicated training and development budgets to expand your expertise and grow your skillset.

• You can volunteer your way with paid time off.

• You can participate in Fors Marsh staff-led affinity groups.

• Our employees receive product and service discounts through the certified B Corp network.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
