Position Summary

The Junior Credit Analyst is responsible for assisting the Bank’s Relationship Managers and Portfolio Managers with accurate analysis and underwriting of new loan requests and renewals, and with overall portfolio management. In addition, the position provides administrative support to the Credit Administration department by preparing detailed reports, assisting with system management, and performing special projects as needed. 

This position is located in our downtown Seattle office and requires full-time, in-person work.  

Essential Duties

  • Spread and analyze business and personal financial statements and tax returns for borrowers and guarantors. 
  • Prepare loan approval memorandums for new relationships, renewals, and annual reviews with oversight from Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers and Credit Administration.
  • Monitor periodic loan and financial covenants to determine compliance, and notify appropriate parties if non-compliance occurs. 
  • Work in concert with Portfolio Managers to organize and manage a tickler system for all loan relationships. 
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports for lending and credit staff, other bank departments, executive management, the board of directors, internal and external auditors, state and federal regulators, examiners, and other parties as required. 
  • Assist the Credit Administrator to monitor and maintain the bank’s real estate appraisal management system. 
  • Review core loan system reports and notify Credit Administrator of essential activity. 
  • Research economic and financial trends as applicable to the bank’s loan portfolio. 
  • Assist with special projects as assigned. 
  • Physically attending work on a set and predictable schedule is an essential function of this job. 

Requirements

  • Due to the collaborative nature of this position, it requires daily in-person work. After a 90-day training period, this position allows for one day of work from home each week. No exceptions will be granted. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a major or minor in business, finance, accounting, economics or a related field of study is preferred; or equivalent work experience.  
  • One to three years of credit analysis or other banking experience preferred but not required. 
  • Knowledge of basic credit principles, lending best practices, and general accounting standards, or the ability to learn quickly. 
  • Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to: 
  • Apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others 
  • Read, analyze and interpret documents and professional journals 
  • Create and understand reports, procedures, and business correspondence 
  • Speak clearly to customers and employees 
  • Edit and proofread documents with precision 
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines. 
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with minimal supervision, while maintaining flexibility for changing priorities. 
  • A positive team attitude and strong professional skills.  
  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel, including working knowledge of financial formulas, macros and other data management tools. 
  • Proficiency with other Microsoft Office products including Word and Outlook.
