Write and edit brand-aligned marketing copy for retro game manuals, websites, email, packaging, and product descriptions. Research franchise history, maintain Atari brand voice, apply style/licensing guidelines, collaborate with design and cross-functional teams, and manage multiple projects to support campaigns and product launches.
The Role:
We are seeking a creative and passionate Junior Marketing Copywriter with a strong knowledge of video games, pop culture, niche fandoms, and licensing to join our growing team. In this role, you will craft compelling content that resonates with fans of popular franchises, brands, and characters. Your work will work closely with the Marketing Copywriter to help drive brand engagement, enhance marketing campaigns, and support product launches through persuasive, on-brand messaging.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write and edit copy for retro game manuals and other long-form brand storytelling formats.
- Create engaging, persuasive, and brand-aligned copy for various marketing channels, including website content, email campaigns, packaging and physical product materials, and product descriptions and promotional materials.
- Review, evaluate, and update historical content to ensure consistency of tone, voice, and accuracy including packaging, manuals, etc.
- Research game,product, and franchise history and apply that knowledge to contemporary marketing content.
- Organize and manage multiple creative projects at once, meeting deadlines while maintaining a high standard of quality and attention to detail.
- Help maintain and evolve the Atari brand voice across all communication platforms, ensuring consistency while adapting tone appropriately for different audiences, franchises, and formats
- Learn and apply brand, style, and licensing guidelines accurately and thoughtfully.
- Assist in the creation of taglines, slogans, and other marketing copy that captures the essence of the brands within the Atari family while resonating with fans.
- Translate game features, differentiators, and nostalgia into clear, consumer-facing messaging
- Partner closely with the Design Team and other LOBs inside the company to develop content that aligns with visual assets and overall product and campaign goals.
- Work with our retro games team to understand gameplay, features, and historical context and turn that insight into compelling written content
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive messaging across all platforms.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, English, or a related field
- 2-4 years of experience in copywriting, preferably within the entertainment, licensing, creative agency, or pop culture industry.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a portfolio demonstrating creative and impactful work.
- Strong understanding of pop culture trends, fandoms, and the licensing landscape.
- Ability to manage deadlines, feedback, and multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a remote-first, cross-functional team environment.

- Interest in video games, pop culture, and retro fandoms
- Experience writing long-form content preferred
- Experience creating ecommerce and conversion-focused content for DTC websites and Amazon
