Hi,

We are hiring an experienced L2/L3 Network Technical Support Engineer for a long-term contract opportunity supporting a broadband network project.

Position Details

Location: Redmond, WA (Onsite, 5 days per week)
Employment Type: Long-term Contract on W2
Work Authorization: US Citizen or Green Card only

Role Overview

We are looking for a hands-on network engineer with strong L2/L3 troubleshooting skills and experience supporting production networks. The role involves investigating broadband connectivity issues, analyzing network traffic, identifying root causes, and coordinating with engineering and operations teams to resolve complex incidents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot production network issues involving connectivity, latency, packet loss, routing, and network performance.

  • Investigate Layer 2 technologies, including Ethernet, VLANs, QinQ, ARP, MAC learning, and STP.

  • Troubleshoot Layer 3 technologies, including IPv4/IPv6, BGP, OSPF/IS-IS, VRFs, DHCP, DNS, and NAT.

  • Analyze packet captures, network logs, alarms, interface counters, and routing tables.

  • Use network CLI tools and monitoring platforms to isolate faults and validate resolutions.

  • Investigate broadband subscriber connectivity, IP assignment, authentication, CGNAT, and Internet reachability.

  • Perform root-cause analysis for recurring and high-impact incidents.

  • Collaborate with NOC, network engineering, operations, and vendor teams.

  • Support network upgrades, migrations, maintenance, and service launches.

  • Maintain troubleshooting documentation and operational procedures.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in network engineering, network operations, or technical support.

  • Strong hands-on experience troubleshooting Layer 2 and Layer 3 networks in production.

  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP, Ethernet, VLANs, ARP, DHCP, DNS, IPv4/IPv6, and routing.

  • Practical experience with BGP and OSPF/IS-IS.

  • Knowledge of VRFs, routing policies, NAT/CGNAT, QoS, and IP services.

  • Experience with Wireshark, tcpdump, packet analysis, network logs, and monitoring tools.

  • Ability to perform end-to-end packet-flow analysis and identify root causes rather than simply escalate incidents.

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and network vendors.

Preferred Broadband Experience

Experience in an ISP, telecommunications, or broadband service provider environment is highly desirable.

Exposure to FTTH, GPON/XGS-PON, OLT/ONT, BNG/BRAS, RADIUS/AAA, subscriber management, VLAN/QinQ, MPLS, IPv6, and network service assurance will be beneficial.

Experience with network automation tools such as Python or Ansible, along with CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, or JNCIP certification, is an added advantage.

Candidates with strong hands-on L2/L3 troubleshooting skills, production incident management experience, and broadband or ISP network exposure will be given preference.

Thank you,

HQ
