Job Title: Epic HIM Lead Analyst Start Date:

  • ASAP Duration: Contract (6 Months)

Project Scope We are seeking an Epic HIM Lead Analyst to support a healthcare organization in New Jersey. This role will serve as the primary subject matter expert for Epic HIM workflows, driving configuration, optimization, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure successful outcomes across the health information management environment.

Position Summary The Epic HIM Lead Analyst will be responsible for leading HIM-related Epic activities including build, configuration, workflow design, and go-live support. This individual will work closely with HIM leadership, clinical documentation teams, coding staff, and IT to ensure the Epic HIM environment meets operational and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate brings deep Epic HIM expertise and a strong ability to manage competing priorities in a complex hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead Epic analyst for HIM modules including ROI, Chart Deficiency, Coding, and Identity.
  • Lead workflow analysis, design, build, and testing activities within the Epic HIM environment.
  • Collaborate with HIM directors, coding supervisors, clinical documentation staff, and IT leadership.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation including build guides, decision logs, and testing scripts.
  • Coordinate and lead end-user training and go-live readiness activities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Epic HIM issues, escalating to Epic when appropriate.
  • Facilitate meetings with stakeholders to gather requirements and communicate project status.
  • Support upgrade activities, break/fix analysis, and ongoing optimization efforts.
  • Ensure all configurations align with regulatory, compliance, and accreditation standards.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of Epic HIM analyst experience.
  • Active Epic certification in one or more HIM modules (ROI, Chart Deficiency, Coding, Identity).
  • Strong understanding of HIM workflows including coding, release of information, and chart completion.
  • Experience leading Epic build and configuration activities in a hospital or health system environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and communicate effectively with both technical and clinical stakeholders.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Epic HIM implementations or large-scale optimization projects.
  • Background working with coding, CDI, or revenue cycle teams.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA, Joint Commission, and HIM compliance standards.
  • RHIA or RHIT credential a plus.
  • Experience working in community or academic medical center environments.
