We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Principal Engineer to join our team. This role is pivotal in building an enterprise-ready, performant, and scalable cloud platform. You will be responsible for driving performance optimization, scaling strategies, and ensuring enterprise readiness of our cloud solutions including of platforms that power industry leading products like Jira.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable and high-performance cloud architectures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define performance requirements and ensure they are met.
  • Develop and optimize algorithms for performance and scalability.
  • Implement best practices for enterprise readiness, including security, compliance, and reliability.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

Qualifications:
  • Extensive experience in software engineering with a focus on performance and scalability.
  • Proven track record of building enterprise-ready cloud solutions.
  • Strong expertise in cloud technologies and architectures.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms.
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of performance monitoring and optimization tools.

Compensation
At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $279,900 - $365,425
Zone B: $252,000 - $329,000
Zone C: $233,100 - $304,325
This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
