Lead Sales Engineer

North - Remote, United States 

 
North's Lead Sales Engineers will work with members of Business Development, Operations, Information Technology, Product, Senior Leadership, and Integrations to focus on acquiring new customers business with SMBs and Enterprise clients and will play a critical role in acting as a customer’s trusted advisor throughout the sales process into implementation.  In this role, you'll provide architectural guidance and thought leadership, translating complex technical capabilities into quantifiable business value to secure key partnerships and expand market share.

What you'll do:

  • Lead technical discussions and become a trusted advisor to clients
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on North products to internal and external stakeholders
  • Become a Product expert up to date with product capabilities and future roadmap by actively participating in internal technical discussions, contributing “field-level” feedback from clients and prospects - acting as the Product and Engineering team's liaison
  • Seek to understand Merchant needs, challenges, and possible solutions
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with prospects during the sales process across many different cycles simultaneously
  • Masterfully articulate technology and product value to a business and technical audience
  • Assist Business Development teams with prospecting, discovery calls, demos, proof of concepts, consulting and working toward a technical close
  • Deliver product presentations and demonstrations tailored to merchant’s requirements and tuned to suit the level and nature of the audience
  • Provide API technical support and guidance for developers and integrators pre-implementation and during implementation
  • Work with the technical & support teams pre-implementation, during implementation, and post-implementation to allow customers to receive 5-star support
  • Participate in managing current relationships to ensure they’re performing at the highest level possible
  • Act as cross-functional team representative; gather and disseminate information about the integration process, helping identify bottlenecks and choke points
  • Work with the Operations, Business Development, and IT teams to improve the pre-sales process, documentation, and best practices
  • Own the discovery and qualification of North's technical compatibility with prospects and provide consultative guidance on a technical strategy to integrate
  • Provide guidance, direction, and technical support to team members

What we need from you:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent degree/experience
  • 7+ years of experience as a technical consultant or sales engineer (pre-sales preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in the payments industry preferred
  • Strong understanding of technology stacks and how that translates into product offerings
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical information clearly and concisely
  • Strong ability to formulate a clear strategy that will accelerate the organization toward its strategic goals
  • Experience selling to and/or supporting Small and Medium-Sized businesses (SMB) and Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SME)
  • Proven ability to gather and analyze customer business and technical requirements through a consultative approach to propose optimal solutions
  • Have an empathetic, collaborative, communicative, and consultative work style
  • Has an insatiable curiosity for technology and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work successfully with remote team members
  • Able to manage multiple responsibilities in tandem with little supervision
  • Comfortable and able to work through ambiguous situations
  • Ability to prioritize competing tasks and bandwidth in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Innovative thinker who is positive, proactive, and readily embraces change
  • Strong sales and relationship management skills
  • Leadership ability to own and drive North's initiatives, collaboratively engaging other functions in the company when needed.
  • Customer focused by understanding the customer's business objectives and meeting or exceeding customer expectations for service
  • Strong technical, analytical, and troubleshooting skills

Travel required: up to 50%
