Job Overview
We are looking for a Lead Senior Engineer to join our growing technology team. As the Lead Senior Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and optimizing Luna Joy's technology infrastructure. You will lead a team of engineers to ensure that our systems are scalable, secure, and efficient. In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams such as Product, Design, and Operations to ensure that our platform supports our mission to deliver high-quality mental health care. This role requires a strong technical background, leadership skills, and a passion for innovation.
As part of the Luna Joy team, you will be instrumental in directly contributing to the support of the mental health journey of one million women with purpose-driven innovation, unwavering compassion, and transformative care. You will lead with a drive for continuous improvement, focusing on building systems that enhance our ability to serve women’s mental health needs. Additionally, you will create a positive work environment by encouraging collaboration, mentoring junior engineers, and embodying Luna Joy’s core values in your daily work.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the engineering team in developing and maintaining scalable, secure, and efficient systems to support Luna Joy’s growing platform.
  • Architect and design software solutions that meet business needs, ensuring the highest quality standards in code and system architecture.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, and Operations teams to define technical requirements and provide input on project planning and timelines.
  • Review and optimize existing codebases, improving performance, scalability, and security.
  • Manage the full software development life cycle, from concept and design to implementation, testing, and deployment.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, applying them to improve Luna Joy’s technology stack.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely manner, ensuring high system availability and reliability.
  • Participate in high-level decision-making regarding technology strategies, tools, and processes to optimize the development workflow.
  • Ensure compliance with industry best practices and regulatory standards, including HIPAA.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior engineering role.
  • Strong expertise in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Node.js, Ruby, etc.).
  • Proven experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
  • Experience in designing and implementing scalable architecture for high-traffic web applications.
  • Strong knowledge of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).
  • Familiarity with modern front-end frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue) is a plus.
  • Proficient in DevOps tools and practices, including CI/CD pipelines, version control systems (Git), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote setting.
  • Strong leadership abilities, with a proven track record of mentoring and managing engineering teams.
  • Passion for women’s mental health and a commitment to making a positive impact.

Nice to Haves:
  • Experience working in healthcare, telehealth, or mental health platforms.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA-compliant software development and data security best practices.
  • Experience with AI/ML applications in healthcare or personalized medicine.

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Compensation Range: Up to $2,000 - $2,500 per month, based on location, experience, qualifications, and applicable federal and state minimum wage requirements.
