The Role:

As a Tax Advisor, you are a trusted expert in tax preparation and advisory services, dedicated to supporting small and medium-sized business clients with clarity and confidence. You bring deep technical knowledge and genuine care to every client interaction—whether supporting the preparation of accurate tax filings, uncovering strategic tax savings, or answering nuanced questions about compliance and best practices.

 Your primary focus is working directly with clients to deliver personalized service that meets their unique tax needs and you oversee the preparation of returns that align with your strategic guidance. 

You're motivated to expand your advisory relationships and experience, and by driving impact both for tax clients and as a key teammate in a rapidly growing service division. You play a vital role in helping to shape client experiences, optimize internal tax practices, and build a world-class advisory function from the ground up.

What you do each day:

  • Deliver personalized tax advisory services to small and medium-sized business clients, with an emphasis on strategic planning and compliance
  • Support the preparation and review tax returns with precision, ensuring adherence to all federal and state regulations
  • Answer client questions about tax planning, deductions, and potential savings opportunities
  • Maintain strong, trust-based relationships with clients through responsive, thoughtful communication
  • Stay up to date on evolving tax legislation, rules, and guidance, and proactively apply insights to client needs
  • Leverage tax software to streamline workflows and ensure accuracy (i.e. Intuit ProConnect, Drake, UltraTax)
  • Identify common client issues and contribute to internal improvements in process and documentation
  • Partner cross-functionally with Customer Success and Product to advocate for the tax needs of SMB clients
  • Share knowledge and insights with peers and contribute to a collaborative, learning-oriented team environment
  • Support quality control by reviewing selected peer work when needed to ensure compliance and consistency

Qualifications:

  • CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification required
  • 3+ years of experience in tax preparation and advisory services, with a focus on SMB clients
  • Strong understanding of IRS and state-level tax laws and filing requirements
  • Proficiency with modern tax prep tools (i.e. Intuit ProConnect, Drake, UltraTax)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience using AI tools to increase quality and efficiency of work

Location Dependent Information

This role is open to candidates and the expected salary range for this role is $72,000-$85,000 The specific salary for the successful candidate will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location. This role is also eligible to participate in Housecall Pro’s benefits: health care insurance (medical, dental, vision, disability), employee assistance program, 401(K), flexible time off, paid parental leave, tech reimbursement, and other company benefits.
