You are also practical and solutions-oriented. You’re not looking for theoretical legal work; you want to help the business move forward safely, efficiently, and confidently.

What You’ll Do:

  • Serve as a legal partner to internal operations teams and external business operators, providing practical guidance on disputes, risk, and compliance issues
  • Support the execution of corporate development initiatives, including acquisitions and integrations
  • Assist with legal due diligence for acquisitions, including review of contracts, corporate records, and compliance history
  • Prepare transaction-related documents including NDAs, LOIs, closing certificates, and ancillary deal materials
  • Support post-closing integration of acquired entities into PLACE’s corporate structure
  • Develop and improve internal legal templates, playbooks, and contract approval workflows
  • Assist in adopting and implementing AI tools and legal tech systems to improve legal operations
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex legal matters and strategic initiatives
  • Support special projects as the legal team evolves and scales with the business

Skills You Have:

  • Strong drafting, writing, and contract interpretation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage directly with business operators and executives
  • Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with strong professional judgment
  • Ability to stay organized and prioritize effectively in a high-growth environment
  • Solutions-oriented approach with a focus on enabling business execution

Qualifications:

  • JD from an accredited law school and active bar membership
  • 0–5 years of legal experience; in-house, corporate, or M&A experience preferred
  • Familiarity or comfort with AI tools, contract lifecycle management systems, or legal operations platforms
  • Experience in real estate, franchising, mortgage, title, or acquisitions is a plus

Salary Range: $100,000-$125,000/year, depending on experience

Why PLACE:

We believe people do their best work when they are trusted, supported, and close to the impact they’re making. This role is based in our Bellingham, WA office, where collaboration and proximity to the business enable fast, high-quality execution. Our competitive benefits include PTO as needed, comprehensive insurance coverage, a 401(k) match, stock option grants, and a stock purchase plan. Every team member is an owner, building the "PLACE" they are proud to call "my company".

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
