SailPoint’s legal team is tasked with building, protecting and expanding SailPoint's competitive advantage and customer experience. We intelligently manage risk, shaping strategy to drive better business decisions for our internal and external environment. As a Legal Operations Manager, you will play a key role in shaping and scaling the legal function. You’ll be responsible for owning the legal department’s technology and AI program end to end: finding high-value use cases, then designing, building, testing, deploying, and maintaining the tools and automations that serve them. You will also be responsible for establishing operational processes and ensuring compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations. You will be a key asset in building the legal team and overseeing the connective tissue between legal, finance, engineering, compliance, and executive teams. You will act as both operator and builder, bridging legal expertise and technical execution— ensuring the legal department operates as a strategic enabler of growth and risk management.

General Responsibilities:

  • Partner with General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel to drive legal department strategic planning process, including goal development, measurement and communication
  • Drive execution of legal’s strategic initiatives through development and management of key legal workflows
  • Develop innovative processes and procedures to support effective, efficient program management and business operations, including building central repositories for knowledge sharing, scalable playbooks and identifying new legal tools that support rapid business scaling
  • Identify, track and report on key metrics related to legal’s in-house legal service delivery model, including adoption and ROI of legal technology and AI tools
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, business development, regulatory, IT, and finance to streamline cross-functional initiatives and operations
  • Partner with legal and compliance teams to create and maintain standardized tracking and evaluation of risk assessments and mitigation plans to support a rapidly growing business

AI and Legal Technology Ownership & Engineering Responsibilities:

  • Own the legal technology roadmap and stack, including vendor evaluation, selection, implementation, and ongoing administration and optimization
  • Find, scope, and prioritize AI use cases across the legal department by working directly with attorneys to understand their workflows
  • Design and build AI solutions, including prompts, skills, prompt libraries, AI playbooks, custom agents, and AI-powered workflows, and configure them for SailPoint’s positions and risk tolerance
  • Build and maintain no-code and low-code automations, document templates, self-service tools, and integrations between legal systems and enterprise platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Slack, SharePoint, Jira)
  • Act as technical owner and administrator for legal systems, covering configuration, user access, testing, data quality, reporting dashboards, and troubleshooting
  • Partner with IT, Security, and Privacy on data governance, confidentiality, privilege protection, and security reviews for legal AI tools, consistent with SailPoint’s AI policies and applicable AI regulations
  • Lead change management, training, and documentation to drive adoption of new tools, and gather user feedback to improve solutions over time
  • Stay current on legal tech and generative AI developments and run pilots and proofs of concept to assess emerging capabilities

Requirements:

  • BA or BS required
  • 5+ years of experience in legal operations, legal program management, legal engineering, legal technology, or similar role—preferably within a technology company
  • Hands-on experience implementing, configuring, and administering legal technology platforms
  • Proven experience building and deploying generative AI solutions in a legal or professional services setting, including prompt engineering, workflow design, and output testing and validation
  • Ability to translate legal requirements into technical specifications, and to explain technical concepts to attorneys and business stakeholders
  •  Prior experience developing playbooks and policies
  • Strong project management skills and a track record of driving cross-functional initiatives to completion
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and successfully manage multiple deadlines

Plan for Success:

  • 30 Days (Onboarding & Prioritization): Get to know the team, understand current workflows, and evaluate existing legal technology processes. Partner with the team to identify, review, and establish key priorities for suspended or upcoming projects that need to be restarted.
  • 60 Days (Implementation & Low-Hanging Fruit): Gain a solid, foundational understanding of the business and team operational dynamics. Successfully execute and complete select "low-hanging fruit" projects while initiating and driving larger strategic initiatives.
  • 90 Days (Strategic Drive & Continuous Progress): Fully integrate into the role to independently manage, continuous-improvement workflows and legal technology operations. Proactively collaborate across stakeholders, reprioritize projects as business demands evolve, and lead high-impact process efficiencies (such as knowledge management in SharePoint and optimization of specialized generative AI tools).
