Join an early-stage startup.
Accelerate economic opportunity.

Join us as our 1st Lifecycle Marketer! You will:

  • Own lifecycle strategy and execution across email, push, and in-app — from onboarding through reactivation

  • Pioneer AI-native workflows and tooling to build marketing systems that are faster, smarter, and more personalized than what's possible with traditional approaches

  • Operate independently, drive clarity where it doesn't exist, and shape a function from the ground up

About us
  • Kovo is expanding access to financial tools for people historically excluded from the traditional credit system. We believe everyone deserves the opportunity for economic independence, and we’re building products that help people establish financial identity and unlock opportunity.

  • Over the past three years, Kovo has grown revenue 20x while maintaining exceptional capital efficiency. We rank above the 99th percentile in revenue-per-employee benchmarks, reflecting the leverage of a small, high-performing team.

  • The team combines the ambition of a venture-scale company with the discipline of a profitable business. We reached positive free cash flow early in our lifecycle, allowing us to grow with less dilution and focus on building for the long term.

  • Kovo is backed by Inspired Capital and Homebrew, along with founders and leaders from Plaid, Column, Ramp, Affirm, Cash App, NerdWallet, Alloy, MoonPay, Uber, Etsy, LendingClub, and more. We’re looking for exceptional people to help us scale the company another 20x and beyond.

Why you might be excited about us
  • Direct impact on millions of people’s ability to access credit

  • High ownership with minimal bureaucracy

  • Speed, learning, and impact are core values

Why you might not be excited about us
  • Roles and priorities evolve quickly

  • Some systems and processes are still being built

  • The pace of execution and career growth is intense (not optimized for work-life balance)

What you'll do
  • Own and evolve Kovo’s lifecycle marketing strategy across email, push notifications, and in-app messaging.

  • Audit and optimize existing lifecycle programs, identifying opportunities to improve activation, engagement, retention, and long-term customer value.

  • Design and scale event-driven lifecycle programs to support personalized, behavioral-triggered messaging.

  • Build and maintain a modular email design system/library, leveraging AI tools to increase speed and quality.

  • Partner with Product and Data to ensure lifecycle messaging is tightly integrated with product events and user behavior.

  • Own conversion rate optimization: define the experimentation framework, prioritize and sequence tests across lifecycle messaging and web conversion flows, and document learnings.

  • Explore and implement AI-powered workflows and proactive messaging agents to improve personalization, cross-sell, and product discovery. We believe AI fundamentally changes what a small lifecycle team can do - you'll have the mandate and resources to prove that out.

  • Define lifecycle KPIs and continuously optimize for measurable performance improvements.

About you
  • 4+ years or equivalent depth of experience owning lifecycle or CRM marketing in a high-growth environment.

  • Comfortable working with event-driven systems and product analytics tools.

  • Think in terms of behavioral triggers, segmentation, and measurable incremental impact - not just campaign sends.

  • Highly autonomous and thrive with high ownership in a small, fast-moving remote team.

  • Technically curious: comfortable with HTML-based email systems, component-driven frameworks, and willing to learn fast.

  • Have a builder's mindset toward AI: you see it as a core capability, not a buzzword, and you're eager to push the boundaries of what lifecycle marketing can look like when AI is deeply embedded in the workflow.

  • Bonus: Managed or contributed to marketing automation migrations or major tooling evolutions.

  • Bonus: Intermediate SQL proficiency.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
