Job Summary
News 12 New York is looking for a creative, driven, and experienced Line Producer to help oversee programming of our streaming news service. The candidate will have experience working in television with expertise in writing scripts and building show rundowns. Knowledge of news and important topics within the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut tri-state area is necessary. They must be comfortable working closely with talent and the Executive Producer on topic selection, as well as developing series that could potentially be sold to a sponsor. This role is the glue between the News 12 linear, digital and streaming products. Experience in successfully developing new shows is a plus. The candidate must also be able to write concise scripts, be proficient with technical aspects of news productions and work in a highly collaborative environment. You need to be able to work in high-pressure situations and produce under tight deadlines. The successful candidate must be a self-starter and independent worker. They must be adaptable and flexible, a team player who is able to mix easily and work effectively in our small team. Must be able to work weekends .
Responsibilities
  • Identify and implement engaging content from all News 12 regions into a programming wheel.
  • Coordinate and program streaming schedules for news and feature-length content to run 24/7.
  • Coordinate control room activities for a future original News 12 New York broadcast.
  • Generate exceptional story ideas, including breaking news and creative story angles, for future original studio programming.
  • Pinpoint excellent segments to be shared with distribution partners.
  • Coordinate with the Executive Producer to make great editorial decisions -- with a keen eye on local news, politics, business, technology, and culture.

Qualifications
  • Experience in journalism, live production and streaming news
  • 5+ years of live broadcast news and control room experience
  • Vast knowledge and interest in news stories and breaking news
  • Excellent research and writing skills
  • Strong grammar, copy editing, and communication skills
  • Familiarity with ENPS, iNews, or similar rundown program
  • Knowledge of production and post-production techniques
  • Organizational skills and ability to work under tight deadlines

This position is identified as being performed in/or reporting to company operations in New York State. Salary ranges are supplied in compliance with New York State law. Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience. The starting pay rate/range at time of hire for this position in the posted location is $77,112.00 - $126,684.00 / year. The rate/range provided herein is the anticipated pay at the time of hire, and does not reflect future job opportunity.
