This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will apply your Mechanical Engineering and Systems Engineering expertise, natural leadership and organizational skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact the bold missions at Blue Origin. You will work on the full life cycle of key hardware components for Blue Origin's Lunar Transportation program.

You will be responsible for developing a set of requirements for that components that is responsive to the needs of multiple spacecraft, in some cases adjudicating when there are conflicting requirements.  You will work with the design team to ensure design simplicity and commonality across different products, and produce roadmaps for design improvements that will benefit future customers.  Later in the development life cycle, you will play a key role in guiding the team to complete verification via qualification and acceptance tests.  Throughout the life cycle, you will manage Technical Performance Metrics, safety products, and interface control documents. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Negotiate and generate requirements, working with multiple stakeholders and customers
  • Drive simple designs with product teams
  • Produce roadmaps for product design
  • Understand customer needs and look for future design improvements
  • Manage Technical Performance Metrics, safety products, and interface control documents

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar
  • 2+ years experience in Systems Engineering
  • Experience working on highly engineered products in rapid development environment
  • Understanding and passion for Systems Engineering principles and practices such as requirements definition, requirements traceability, functional decomposition, verification, and validation, creating and managing interface control document (ICD), configuration management, and systems engineering management plan (SEMP)
  • Participate, as needed, in technical and programmatic customer interactions that require your expertise
  • Experience working with other project members to drive progress toward milestones
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical subject area
  • 2+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience with requirements development/management tools such as JAMA
  • Experience with systems engineering modeling tools, such as Rhapsody or Cameo.
  • Previous customer facing roles with experience presenting to and directly interacting with customers

 

Compensation Range for:

CA applicants is $96,310.00-$134,833.65;CO applicants is $88,284.00-$123,597.60;WA applicants is $96,310.00-$134,833.65

  • Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification, Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.
