We are seeking an experienced Manager, Accounting for a full-time, hybrid role to own and scale key operational accounting areas. This role is responsible for fixed assets, prepaids, software capitalization, commissions, payroll accounting, and related close processes. The position plays a critical role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong internal controls as the company grows and reports to the Director of Accounting. This is a hybrid role based out of our NYC office, with the expectation of 3 days in office. 

What you’ll do: 

  • Own the end-to-end accounting for fixed assets, including capitalization, depreciation, impairments, disposals, and reconciliations
  • Manage internal-use software capitalization in accordance with US GAAP, partnering closely with engineering, product, and IT teams
  • Oversee prepaid expense accounting, amortization schedules, and related reconciliations
  • Lead commission accounting processes, including accruals, amortization, and coordination with sales operations and payroll, in compliance with ASC 340
  • Oversee payroll accounting, including journal entries, reconciliations, benefits, bonuses, and equity-related payroll impacts
  • Manage and develop two staff accountants, including goal setting, performance feedback, and review of work
  • Own month-end and quarter-end close processes for assigned areas, including preparation and review of journal entries, reconciliations, and flux analyses
  • Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, HR, Sales Operations, IT, and external vendors to ensure accurate and timely accounting
  • Support external audits by preparing schedules and responding to audit requests
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement, automation, and scalability

What success looks like in this role:

  • Operational accounting areas are closed accurately and on time each month and quarter
  • Fixed assets, software capitalization, prepaids, commissions, and payroll accounts are well-documented, reconciled, and audit-ready
  • Internal controls are operating effectively, with minimal audit findings or post-close adjustments
  • Cross-functional partners view accounting as a proactive, reliable, and collaborative business partner
  • Processes scale smoothly with company growth, including increased transaction volume and organizational complexity
  • Risks are identified early and addressed thoughtfully, with clear communication to accounting leadership
  • The team demonstrates strong ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement in operational accounting areas

What you’ll bring: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including ownership of complex operational accounting areas
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP related to fixed assets, internal-use software, prepaids, commissions, and payroll
  • Proven experience managing and developing staff accountants
  • Proficiency in NetSuite, including journal entries, reconciliations, reporting, and system workflows
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, including Google Sheets, Docs, and Slides
  • Experience owning month-end and quarter-end close processes in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to partner cross-functionally and communicate accounting concepts clearly to non-accounting stakeholders

The target base salary range for this position is $110,400 - $139,660 and is part of a competitive total rewards package including stock options and benefits. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. We review all employee pay and compensation programs annually using Radford Global Compensation Database at minimum to ensure competitive and fair pay.
