Job Description

About The Position 

The Manager, Content Marketing & Ops will play a dual role as both a strategic contributor and a people manager, overseeing and coaching newsletter editors while also contributing directly to content creation and strategy. This role is responsible for shaping and executing content marketing strategies across multiple channels—including email, browser push notifications, and other audience retention initiatives—to drive traffic, increase subscriber engagement and retention, and maximize subscriber lifetime value (LTV).

In this role, you will not only craft compelling, high-performing content for newsletters and push notification campaigns but also guide and develop a team of editors. You will provide mentorship, feedback, and support to ensure their growth and success, fostering a data-driven, creative, and results-oriented approach.

Beyond content execution, this role reports to and works closely with the Associate Director, Growth Marketing & Audience Relationships to shape best practices, test new approaches, and champion audience growth initiatives. With a mix of strategic and hands-on responsibilities, this role requires a balance of analytical thinking, data-driven decision-making, and a creative, idea-generating mindset to support the goals of assigned brands.

About the Team

This role is part of our centralized Growth and Audience Relationship team, responsible for growing direct relationships between our brands and consumers, operating DDM brands' newsletter, notification and lifecycle marketing programs, and delivering best in class experiences to millions of subscribers. This role works as part of a “pod” on the Audience Relationship Team, composed of this role, a Growth Marketing lead and Audience Conversion Specialist.

Hybrid 3x a week

In-office Expectations: This position is hybrid in-office, with the ability to work remotely for up to 2 days per week.

About The Positions Contributions:

Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results

  • Team Leadership and Management: Lead the Newsletter & Notification Editors on your team, providing coaching and fostering their growth and development.

  • Content Strategy, Planning and Execution: Create and maintain a content plan for newsletter programs for assigned brands. Collaborate with the Growth Marketing lead and Newsletter & Notification Editor on your team and your assigned brands, to ensure program strategy and content is aligned with brand editorial strategy and business goals.

  • Collaboration and Partnership: Build a strong, collaborative working relationship with brand leaders and stakeholders. Communicate effectively with editorial and production teams to develop email content and deploy messages that align with achieving business goals. Maintains a deep understanding of each brand’s voice, tone, and standards, ensuring all newsletters and notifications reflect that voice.

  • Retention Strategy: Collaborate closely with the Growth Marketing Lead to support and learn from initiatives focused on retention strategy, A/B testing, and subscriber engagement. This role assists in driving efforts to reduce churn and improve LTV by contributing historical performance insights, helping surface opportunities, and taking ownership of tactical execution where directed—including submitting tickets, coordinating cross-functional tasks, and keeping processes on track.

  • Reporting and Analysis: Utilize reporting tools to determine content strategy and plan that drives business goals such as site traffic and revenue. Use data and analysis to inform decision-making around content programming selection and subject line writing to maximize marketing performance. Oversees A/B testing initiatives and efficiency improvements across assigned brands.

  • Program Performance: In partnership with the Growth Marketing lead and Newsletter & Notification Editor, establish program and performance growth goals. Monitor and analyze the performance of email and notification programs, providing regular reporting and insights to stakeholders. Identify opportunities developing data-based insights and recommendations for new and optimized strategies to meet goals. Prepares and presents monthly performance reports to stakeholders and leads regular content insights meetings.


The Role’s Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelors and/or equivalent experience.


Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years related professional experience

  • Digital marketing experience preferred.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and influence stakeholders

  • Good critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills are necessary

  • Must possess an understanding of basic Excel and/or Google Sheets functionality.Must be detail-oriented and have strong organizational skills

  • Excellent time management skills
