As the Data Solutions Manager at Carrix, you will lead the design, development, and management of enterprise data platforms and business intelligence solutions that power our global shipping and terminal operations. You will oversee a team of data professionals, guiding the delivery of secure, scalable, and business-aligned data products. This role serves as both a trusted advisor to business stakeholders and a hands-on leader of the data product lifecycle.

 

You will work closely with Carrix’s data community across the business, supporting operational and strategic initiatives through strong communication, architectural guidance, and modern data practices. By combining technical expertise, business acumen, and relationship-building, you will shape Carrix’s enterprise data ecosystem to deliver measurable business value and advance our transformation into a predictive, insights-driven organization.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the business data community to identify, prioritize, and deliver high-value data and analytics solutions.
  • Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, analysts, and BI developers, fostering technical excellence and career growth.
  • Oversee the design, build, and maintenance of enterprise data products across the medallion architecture (bronze, silver, gold layers).
  • Act as the bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring clarity on requirements, use cases, and outcomes.
  • Provide architectural guidance on data integration, warehousing, resource optimization, and BI/reporting platforms.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and regulatory requirements across all platforms and solutions.
  • Support adoption of cloud-based practices, including CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, and Infrastructure-as-Code where applicable.
  • Guide implementation of data governance practices and tools, including cataloging, lineage, and quality frameworks.
  • Monitor system performance and usage, ensuring scalability, reliability, and efficiency in data delivery.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies in cloud, analytics, and BI, recommending and implementing innovative solutions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • 5+ years of experience (or equivalent mix of technical leadership and product delivery experience) in data product, data engineering, or BI management roles.
  • Proven success leading technical teams in designing, building, and supporting enterprise data solutions.
  • Experience in terminal operations, logistics, or related industries is highly valuable.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering secure, compliant, and business-aligned data products.

Key Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of modern data architectures, data warehousing, BI, and integration practices.
  • Proficiency with one or more of the following: Snowflake, Informatica, Boomi, dbt, Python/R, Power BI.
  • Experience with other data and analytics tools (MSSQL, Teradata, AWS S3, Alteryx, Databricks, Kubernetes, Tableau, Looker) highly valuable.
  • Familiarity with data catalog, lineage, and quality tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Atlan, Monte Carlo).
  • Knowledge of machine learning/AI concepts, streaming data technologies, and big data frameworks.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable business insights for leaders at all levels.
  • Skilled in stakeholder communication, cross-functional collaboration, and relationship building.
  • Strong organizational and leadership abilities, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance strategic vision with tactical execution.

Work Environment:

  • Required job duties are normally performed in a climate-controlled office environment, or remotely from home.
  • Exposure to computer screens.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Pay Range

$140,000 - 160,000 per year

Compensation & BenefitsEligible employees (and their families) may qualify for medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as having basic life and accidental death insurance, paid disability insurance, including paid parental leave if eligible, and an Employee Assistance Program. Employees will receive paid sick and vacation time, and company holidays if eligible. The company also offers paid bereavement leave, and paid jury duty. Eligible employees can enroll in our company's 401k plan, as well as a retirement plan. Employees will be eligible for discretionary and/or metric-based bonuses dependent on their position.
