What you will do:

As our Manager, Market Insights, you will lead market modeling, secondary research and quantitative insights for the Medical Division. You will provide functional expertise in market sizing, market research, and competitive insights to deliver reliable market models as needed to inform ongoing business decisions, as part of an assessment of a new business or market opportunity, and in support of Stryker’s annual strategic planning process. You will directly manage, develop and coach a team of analysts, developing and growing functional expertise and talent in Market Insights.  Further, you will partner closely with BU Market Insight professional(s) and Marketing teams to drive collaborative market research, complete critical business tasks, and develop a bench of future Market Insights talent. 

This is a hybrid role, and we define hybrid as the ability to go into the office located in Cary, IL; Redmond, WA; or Portage, MI, at least 3 days per week.

Competitive and Industry Insights 

  • Evaluates and monitors the products, services, and market activity of multiple competitors. 

  • Deploys resources to measure and monitor changes to the competitive landscape. 

Market Research 

  • Works with business partners to synthesize the organization’s current accumulated knowledge set and identifies gaps that need to be filled in order to improve decision making​​Coaches team in appropriate investigative or analytical methods to conduct reliable market research. 

Market Sizing & Segmentation 

  • Guides teams through category definition and segmentation exercises, ensuring markets are defined in meaningful ways. Challenges conventional thinking as categories evolve. 

  • Continually monitors and evaluates current market strategy and makes recommendations on new strategies. 

  • Maintains quantitative market models describing the fundamental growth rate and competitive landscape of key segments and potential new opportunities. 

Developing the Strategic Plan 

  • Contributes specific analyses to aid in the construction of strategic plans using specified templates 

Budgeting 

  • Develops and manages a budget, thoughtfully allocating resources, expenses, and making trade-offs.  

Leadership Skills 

  • Leads a team of professionals: develops employees, which includes hiring, communicating company policies, setting meaningful goals, providing feedback and coaching,, administering performance appraisals, and enforcing company policies through appropriate disciplinary measures.  

  • Ability to influence throughout a matrixed organization 

What you need:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree is needed for a successful candidate.

  • 8+ years of work experience required 

  • 5+ years market research or upstream marketing experience required 

  • 2+ years of people management experience preferred 

  • 2+ years demonstrated experience in market and financial modeling required 

Preferred:

  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal communications skills 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 

  • Ability to manage multiple projects while delivering on established timelines 

  • Ability to be persuasive in the absence of organizational authority 

  • Must be able to understand and work within complex interdivisional procedures and policies 

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & PowerPoint) 

Travel Percentage: 20%
