The following position is to join our RTX Enterprise Services team:

The Manager, Payroll Benefits will oversee payroll activities supporting employee savings and benefit programs, ensuring accurate processing, compliance, reconciliations, audits, and vendor coordination. This role will partner closely with Benefits, HR, Finance, and HRIS teams to maintain accurate and efficient payroll processes.

What You Will Do 

  • Manage payroll for 401(k), HSA, and Deferred Compensation programs, ensuring accurate and timely deductions, employer contributions, and adjustments.

  • Create, document, and maintain payroll workflows, processes, and internal controls for savings and deferred compensation deductions.

  • Align payroll processing with IRS, DOL, federal/state regulations, company policies, and plan requirements.

  • Verify annual contribution limits, deduction calculations, eligibility data, and implement required payroll corrections.

  • Regularly reconcile payroll system records, employee deductions, employer contributions, and vendor funding files.

  • Establish and execute pre- and post-payroll audits to identify and resolve discrepancies, missed deductions, and other payroll errors.

  • Validate payroll implementation for 401(k), HSA, and Deferred Compensation elections, including new enrollments, changes, and corrections.

  • Collaborate with Benefits teams and external administrators to ensure participant elections and plan changes are accurately reflected in payroll.

  • Coordinate accurate funding files and payroll transmissions to external providers, resolving discrepancies as needed.

  • Provide payroll records, reconciliations, and documentation for audits while identifying opportunities to automate and improve processes.

  

Qualifications You Must Have 

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience.

  • 5+ years of progressive payroll experience supporting payroll processes for benefits and employee savings programs. 

  • Experience with payroll reconciliation, auditing, and error resolution, including identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions. 

 
Qualifications We Prefer 

  • Experience with payroll/HRIS systems and managing payroll interfaces or files with external benefits and savings plan vendors

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, reconciliations, and audits, combined with strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address process gaps and compliance risks.

  • In-depth knowledge of 401(k), HSA, and Deferred Compensation payroll processing, as well as IRS and federal regulatory requirements for payroll deductions and contributions.

  • Proven ability to handle confidential employee data with care and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including Benefits, HR, Finance, HRIS, and external vendors.

  • Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines and ensure accurate, timely payroll processing.

Remote: This position is currently designated as remote. However, the successful candidate will be required to work from one of the 50 U.S. states (excluding U.S. Territories). Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home).  An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
