About the team

The Risk Business Process Team sits within the Risk Operations org and is responsible for building and operating critical programs our Risk Operations organization leans on to scale. Specifically, we devise and execute strategies to ensure that a wide range of mission-critical business processes are effective at achieving our dual goals of preventing bad actors from exploiting Stripe’s systems and delivering an exceptional user experience for legitimate users. 

What you’ll do

You’ll lead a group of high-performing program managers to build and optimize mission-critical business processes. You and your team own centralized processes that ensure risk operations agents are set up for success. The team serves as key thought partners in evolving Stripe’s Risk ecosystem and partners cross-functionally to achieve that evolution. 

Responsibilities
  • Partner cross-functionally across our Risk organization to devise and execute strategies to evolve our Risk infrastructure and operational processes that enable global merchants to meet global regulatory requirements while maintaining a high bar on user experience 
  • Support the Risk business teams through scaled change management to effectively enable, launch, and scale new processes.
  • Act as an effective escalation point for Operations to influence across the organization.
  • Drive top-line prioritization of work, and manage tradeoffs on resourcing and roadmapping.
  • Lead a team of high-performing program managers across multiple work streams; this includes providing consistent coaching, setting vision and goals, holding the team to a high-bar, fostering a strong team culture, and leading hiring efforts when relevant. 
  • Transmit and foster our operating principles, serving as a beacon of Stripe’s user-centric philosophy and culture of transparency, empathy, inclusion, and empowerment
Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in operations, risk, business process analysis, strategy and operations, consulting, and/or program management
  • 10+ years of experience managing teams of program managers 
  • Experience owning globally spanning programs, developing teams and creating leverage through strategic team structures and operating models
  • Excel in cross-functional influence and partnerships with user facing account teams, product, and policy 
Preferred qualifications
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders with varying priorities and drive creative solutions and commitment to a shared goal in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Skilled at tackling ambiguous problems and defining and executing strategies that clarify the problems and deliver quantifiable business impact
  • Confident leading decision making with data  
  • Excellent communication with experience articulating complex topics in an easy-to-consume way, adept at both working-level and exec-level comms
