Manager, Software Engineering, XR Platform

The opportunity

In the Unity Platform group, we make sure the Unity Engine and Editor are on every major platform where our users want to go and where real-time content is needed. To help achieve this mission we are looking for an experienced manager to lead the XR Core engineering team. The XR Core team delivers foundational support to use XR headset devices with the Unity Engine.

This role is a combination of technical leadership and people management. The right person will attract, develop and retain high quality engineering talent. What you'll be doing

• Own and drive the near-term execution and technical strategy for the team
• Collaborate internally with other core Unity engineering and graphics teams
• Communicate your team’s vision and progress internally and externally
• Support the members of your engineering team as they advance in their career goals

What we're looking for

• Experience managing a high-performance software engineering team
• Proven technical knowledge and experience working with AR/VR/XR platforms
• Expertise as a software engineer, and a working familiarity with C++ and C#
• Ability to assimilate and understand a large and complex software product

You might also have

• Understanding of the OpenXR standard, or a track record of working with open standards
• Familiarity with real time 3D rendering techniques and graphics APIs including Vulkan
• A passion for the future of computer games or real-time 3D experiences in a variety of settings
• Expertise leading using Agile development methodologies
• Experience leading distributed teams
