Our mission is to protect our customers and partners with products they love to use—and that mission is powered by a team that cares deeply about how work gets done. At DNSFilter, we balance speed with precision, innovation with responsibility, and ambition with empathy. We thrive in change, value thoughtful execution, and challenge ourselves to be better every day.

To support our continued growth, we’re hiring a Software Engineering Manager to manage and lead one of our product engineering scrum teams.  This team will focus mostly on our roaming clients, and the ideal candidate will have experience supporting different OS platforms (Windows, MacOS, iOS, Android).  This position requires someone intimately familiar with development practices in a lean agile environment who can ensure delivering complex projects in a timely manner.

You’ll report up to our Director of Product Engineering, but will work closely with other Engineering Managers to ensure our development teams stay on task and have the resources needed to deliver projects in a timely manner. This position requires excellent communication skills as they will be collaborating closely with other stakeholders (PMs, BizOps, Architecture, Platform). We need someone who has been a strong engineering manager growing from developer background themselves and has exposure to concepts and tools like CI/CD and Github, and has experience building highly scalable, resilient and distributed applications.
Eligible candidates have and can work successfully in a small to mid-sized fast-paced, hyper-growth, SaaS start-up or scale-up. This is a full-time role with a preference for candidates in the Tampa Bay area.

We recognize that people come with a wealth of experience and talent beyond just the technical requirements of a job. If you feel like this job is for you, please apply. We believe diversity of experience and skills, including transferable skills, combined with passion, is a key to innovation and excellence; therefore, we encourage people from all backgrounds to apply to our positions!

In this role you will:

  • Manage 5+ software engineers on one of our product engineering scrum teams
  • Manage product backlog and deliveries of your team in a lean agile environment
  • Be a technical leader within your team and at DNSFilter as a whole
  • Collaborate with other engineering managers and leaders to ensure delivery of new features and enhancements
  • Provide the team with coaching, training, opportunities to learn and develop, and consistently deliver feedback on performance
  • Tackle additional tasks outside of your core specialization in order to meet team’s commitments
  • Participate in interviews

To qualify for this role you have:

  • 3+ years of experience leading teams working on different areas of an application (on prem solutions, cloud based, OS specific software development)
  • You have a strong knowledge of Windows and Mac developments, as well as iOS and Android
  • Proven experience as a technical leader managing developers
  • A strong understanding of Agile development, specifically Scrum and Kanban
  • Excellent ability to translate business strategy and product requirements into a technical roadmap and engineering deliverables
  • Demonstrated experience in hiring, coaching, and developing engineering talent
  • The ability to breakdown complex technical problems into manageable tasks
  • You are comfortable communicating across departments, and tackling complex projects with your peers
  • You have a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Able to plan/triage/manage/track teams work in JIRA
  • Ability to keep work hours overlap within EST timezone
  • Must be eligible to work in the US or Canada without sponsorship from an employer now or in the future
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar field or extensive experience in the software industry

Bonus points for:

  • A strong understanding of computer networking protocols and DNS
  • Experience leading web development teams and understanding API design principles
  • Past experience working in a fast paced private equity or venture capital backend company
  • Experience working and leading remote distributed teams

We Offer:

  • Pathway to promotion to additional organizational positions and responsibilities based upon results and performance, not just time in the chair.  You help us grow, and we will help you grow.
  • Passionate and intelligent colleagues who work hard and have a good time doing it
  • Paid company-wide week off at the end of each year
  • Flexible Vacation Policy
  • Awesome company swag
  • Full medical, dental, and vision benefits for US, UK, and Canada-based employees
  • Full short-term disability and life benefits; available long-term disability
  • Retirement savings account options with vested company matching for qualifying employees
  • In-person annual gatherings. Last time we all spent a week on a beach in Cancun!

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
