What you will do:

As our Manager, Strategy you will act as a strategic advisor to Division Leaders, creating clarity around complex problems and long-term strategic objectives. You will analyze data, benchmark best practices, assess possible paths forward and develop actionable solutions that optimize results across a range of subjects that span the business including market selection, organizational design, competency assessment or resource allocation. Additionally, you will play a leadership role in the Division’s annual strategic planning process by setting vision and process, managing deliverables, formulating actionable conclusions and tracking progress against agreed strategic initiatives.

This is a hybrid role and as such you will be expected to go into the office a minimum of 3 days per week in either the Cary IL, Redmond WA or Portage MI Stryker locations.

Problem Analysis & Data Interpretation

  • Leverage traditional strategy frameworks and tools, along with an open, inquisitive mindset, to assess problems or areas of opportunity identified by senior leaders

  • Source, model, interpret and simplify complex data to clarify current-state for decision-makers

Strategy Development & Implementation

  • Investigate pathways forward through assessment of internal and external data sources, interviews, external benchmarking

  • Partner closely with cross-functional peers and steering committees to communicate potential paths and gain buy-in

  • Demonstrate critical thinking to assess and communicate possible paths forward, considering trade-offs, competencies, and resources required. Guide decision-makers through findings and recommendations

Strategic Planning

  • Plays leadership role in annual strategic planning process, overseeing Division approach, process, frameworks and deliverables

  • Manages timelines, calendars and logistics of strategic planning process across a highly-matrixed group of contributors

  • Implements effective Strategy Scorecard tracking process, ensuring accountability toward stated goals at all levels of organization

People & Outside Consultant Management

  • May lead a team of professionals: develops employees, which includes hiring, communicating company policies, coaching and counseling, administering performance appraisals, and enforcing company policies through appropriate disciplinary measures.

  • Able to routinely make decisions which may affect immediate operation and have a company-wide impact.

  • Holds team accountable to deliver high quality results with passion, energy, and drive to meet business priorities.

What you need:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required for a qualified candidate.

  • 8+ years of professional work experience required

  • 5+ years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, or prior experience in a private equity firm is needed for a successful candidate

  • 2+ years of experience with deep financial acumen including P&L management

Preferred:

  • MBA preferred

Travel Percentage: 20%
