Job Summary:
The Manager of Underwriting Assistants oversees a team of underwriting support professionals who assist underwriters in processing insurance submissions, managing documentation, and ensuring efficient underwriting operations. This role is responsible for supervising daily workflows, coaching team members, streamlining processes, and serving as a key liaison between underwriting teams and other internal departments. The manager will help ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of all underwriting support activities.

Key Responsibilities:
• Team Leadership & Management:
o Lead, mentor, and manage a team of underwriting assistants.
o Assign workloads, set priorities, and monitor productivity and service levels.
o Conduct regular performance evaluations, identify training needs, and foster career development.
• Operational Oversight:
o Ensure timely and accurate processing of submissions, policy issuance, endorsements, renewals, and cancellations.
o Maintain procedures and best practices for underwriting support functions to ensure KPIs are met.
• Collaboration & Communication:
o Act as a liaison between underwriting assistants and underwriting staff to resolve workflow issues and improve efficiencies.
o Coordinate with IT, compliance, claims, and other departments to support cross-functional projects and initiatives.
• Underwriting Support:
o Participates with Cyber Underwriters in the new business and account renewals that support underwriting decisions that are consistent with Converge’s growth and retention goals for Open Market and Digital business.
o Partners with Underwriters to establish support needs for new and in force policies (i.e., identify / gather relevant account information to quote and / or bind the policy etc.) for Open Market and Digital business.
o Responsible for all administrative tasks associated with assisting the underwriter with the full lifecycle of a risk.
o Prepares new submissions for underwriter review.
o Prepares files for renewal including file organization, loss runs and contract comparison.
o Issues new business policies, renewal policies, and endorsements including document creation, file maintenance and systems updates.
o Maintains underwriting files and documentation to the required standards.
• Process Improvement:
o Identify opportunities to automate or improve administrative and support processes.
o Recommend enhancements to workflows and systems to increase speed, accuracy, and customer service.
• Reporting & Metrics:
o Track team performance metrics (e.g., turnaround times, error rates).
o Provide regular reports to underwriting management on team efficiency and operational risks.
• Compliance & Quality Assurance:
o Ensure team adheres to underwriting guidelines, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
o Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and process explanations.

Qualifications:
• Education:
Bachelor’s degree in business, Insurance, Risk Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience:
o Minimum of 5 years of experience in an insurance underwriting support or operations role.
o At least 2 years of supervisory or management experience preferred.
o Knowledge of cyber insurance is a plus.
• Skills & Competencies:
o Strong leadership and people management skills.
o Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
o Proficient in insurance policy management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
o High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
o Strong written and verbal communication skills.
o Ability to multitask and work in a deadline-driven environment.

- Pay: $100,000 annually (commensurate with experience and location).
- Total Compensation Context: This role may be eligible for annual performance bonuses and equity participation.
