The Opportunity:   

The Director of HR and Finance Systems provides strategic leadership for the planning, implementation, and optimization of the HR and Finance systems, primarily Workday. This role partners closely with HR, Finance, and IT leadership to ensure solutions align with University goals and deliver measurable value. The Director drives innovation by evaluating emerging capabilities across multiple applications, ensuring the systems evolve to meet changing business needs. As a senior leader, the Director leads cross-functional teams in the delivery of complex, high-impact projects with a focus on quality and user experience. They cultivate strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to maximize system performance and adoption. The Director also provides vision and mentorship to a team of system analysts, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and service excellence. They oversee systems data governance, change management, access reviews and compliance to support agility and operational integrity. Ideal candidates bring deep expertise in enterprise cloud ERP systems—preferably Workday—and a proven ability to lead diverse teams in dynamic environments. They are skilled communicators who can engage both technical and non-technical audiences and build consensus across departments. A strategic mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction for the Workday platform to align with University goals.
  • Oversee system roadmap planning and long-term optimization. Lead the evaluation and adoption of new Workday features and releases. Ensure alignment of Workday systems with enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Oversee complex projects working closely with the IT Project Management. Office to consistently deliver application projects with a high level of quality and functionality that meets the business requirements.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Workday professionals
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration both intra-department and inter-department.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, accountability, and service excellence. Guide the team in prioritizing and delivering impactful solutions. Performs research or analysis for new solutions as business needs evolve.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related degree.

5-10 years of experience in managing teams.

Expertise in supporting global ERP cloud systems for core HCM, payroll, or financial applications, with a preference for Workday.

Strong ability to interact with senior leaders and tailor communication for both technical and non-technical audiences.
