Managing Strategists on the Texting team lead high-profile client programs and are responsible for the success and professional development of direct reports. This is a people managing role – one that requires equal investment in the growth of your staff and the quality of your client work. Managing Strategists set strategy, uphold standards, and ensure that every account they touch – directly or through the staff they manage – reflects the Texting team’s best work.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serve as texting lead on assigned clients; craft program strategy, manage client relationships, and work collaboratively across teams
  • Provide direct reports and junior staff with feedback on client work, including copyediting, content approvals, and ensuring final deliverables are polished
  • Formally manage 3-4 direct reports: lead regular 1:1 check-ins, write and deliver performance reviews, and take direct responsibility for their professional development, onboarding, and training
  • Assist or lead the hiring process for roles on the Texting team
  • Own financial management and forecasting across assigned accounts: maintain error-free reporting and invoicing, produce and regularly update spending and fundraising projections, and ensure the overall financial health and scalability of paid texting programs
  • Create, pitch, and lead execution of list growth strategy & mobile acquisition plans for assigned accounts; monitor performance and aggressively scale investments
  • Build and present sophisticated media plans that connect acquisition investments to fundraising and list growth outcomes; hold vendors accountable to performance benchmarks and adjust strategy based on results
  • Ensure rapid response capacity exists across accounts; review execution for quality and judgment; coach direct reports on how to assess and act on moments
  • Develop internal and external processes, training materials, and best practices
  • Craft strategies to improve program performance on assigned accounts that can be shared with clients and used to hold staff accountable for execution
  • Pitch prospective clients, upsell existing clients, and assist in client onboarding
  • Assist in ensuring strong cross-team collaboration
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in texting, digital fundraising, or a related field; at least 1-2 years of P2P and/or broadcast texting experience required
  • Strong people management skills or clear readiness to manage; experience guiding junior staff and providing actionable feedback on client work
  • Able to manage multiple client projects and relationships without assistance
  • Excellent copywriting and editing skills; ability to write across all send types, adapt to diverse client voices, and train direct reports on voice and tone
  • Deep understanding of digital fundraising strategy, including theory of change, ask structure, and campaign urgency
  • Strong analytical and forecasting skills; ability to build accurate fundraising and spending projections and adjust strategy based on performance data
  • Comfortable leading high-stakes client conversations, including communicating performance challenges and course-correcting strategy
  • Expert knowledge of Switchboard and familiarity with the broader texting platform landscape (Scale to Win, Tatango, Amplify, etc.)
  • Required: Knowledge of ActBlue and CRMs (ActionKit, Action Network, NGP, etc.)
  • Required: Proficiency in AirTable, Looker Studio, and Google Sheets for reporting and data visualization
  • Experience building media plans for acquisition programs and managing vendor relationships
  • Attention to detail while managing tight deadlines, multiple content calendars, and the work of junior staff
