We’re looking for a Video Editor to join our team and play a critical role in transforming raw footage into dynamic videos that resonate with our audiences. This position is not about crafting cinematic masterpieces or feature-length productions—it’s about efficiency, creativity, and delivering high-quality, high-volume video content. You’ll work with a mix of professionally shot footage and individually-generated iPhone clips, turning raw material into compelling videos that inform, inspire, and engage. Your ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines will be key to success in this role.

Within 1 month, you will: 

  • Collaborate across departments to understand project goals and develop creative concepts.
  • Review and approve video edits, ensuring they align with brand guidelines and storytelling objectives.
  • Manage multiple video projects from concept to final delivery while ensuring high-quality production standards
  • Manage all editorial video content and distribution, producing and editing video in support of Outside Inc.’s editorial brands, including Outside, SKI, Climbing, Backpacker, RUN, Triathlete, and Yoga Journal. 
  • Bring a network of freelance video editors/ producers to support rapid growth and keep your finger on the pulse when it comes to current trends, editorial strategies, and social media

Within 6 months, you will: 

  • Manage, mentor, and lead a team of contracted video editors, providing feedback and guidance to ensure consistent quality and productivity across a variety of Outside’s vertical brands.
  • Develop and maintain production schedules, ensuring deadlines are met and resources are allocated efficiently.
  • Implement best practices for video editing, sound design, color correction, and motion graphics.

Within 12 months, you will: 

  • Oversee the video production process, from pre-production planning to post-production editing and final delivery.
  • Manage video assets, including archiving and organizing footage for easy access.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and new technologies to continuously improve the video production process.
  • Build an internal team of video editors and producers to scale our video content production


What YOU bring to Outside:  (Preferred Qualifications)

  • 5+ years years experience as a Video Producer, Video Editor, or similar role with leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of video production work with complex and modern video strategies.
  • Proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, and After Effects.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong collaboration, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to provide constructive feedback.
  • Creative mindset with attention to detail and passion for storytelling
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A passion for the outdoors and experience with shooting, editing, and strategizing video in support of product reviews; travel; news; fitness; and lifestyle.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a creative agency or media production company.
  • Knowledge of videography, lighting, and camera operation.
  • Familiarity with animation and motion graphics techniques.

What We Offer:

Entirely remote jobs that could be performed in Colorado: Employees can expect to be paid a salary of  between $75,000 to $90,000.  Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission. Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, Flexible Time Away,  sick leave, and more.  This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
