Walker Sands is looking for an experienced B2B marketing strategist to join our contractor roster. While we don’t have a specific project in mind at the moment, we’re building a pool of talented professionals we can rely on for future needs. Contractors from this roster may be contacted for work on a per-project basis, with the possibility of ongoing or extended engagements depending on performance and agency demand.

Daily work for a B2B marketing strategist may include market and/or marketing data analysis, go-to-market strategy development, brand strategy, campaign strategy and activation planning and reporting on integrated marketing campaigns. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams — researchers, strategists, creatives, media experts, copywriters, and account leads — to support agency strategy projects. This role is ideal for a seasoned strategist who can jump in immediately to provide high-quality, ad-hoc strategic support.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and refine go-to-market strategies for B2B clients, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Conduct and/or work with our in-house team on market research, competitive analysis and audience segmentation to inform strategic recommendations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (research, strategy, media, creative, client services) to translate strategy into actionable, measurable plans.
  • Support development of messaging frameworks, positioning strategies and value proposition for clients.
  • Provide strategic input on campaign planning, strategy and activations, including measurement and rollout.
  • Report against in-progress strategies, supporting client reporting readouts and actionable recommendations for forward-looking optimizations.
  • Create client-facing presentations and deliverables that clearly communicate insights and recommendations.
  • Work closely with internal teams to manage feedback and revisions efficiently.
  • Ensure deliverables are optimized for client and internal team use.

Requirements:

  • 3-5+ years of professional experience in marketing, brand or business strategy roles, ideally within a B2B agency or consultancy.
  • Experience in conducting and synthesizing market research into clear, actionable insights.
  • Strong storytelling and presentation skills — able to distill complex information into compelling narratives.
  • Strong understanding of B2B marketing and media strategies.
  • Experience building strategies for a variety of client marketing outcomes, including awareness, growth, customer or employee retention and customer expansion.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, flexible contract role with shifting priorities.
  • An organized and detail-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, problem-solving attitude.
  • A portfolio showcasing measurable outcomes from previous strategy projects.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience in reporting and analytics.
  • Industry-specific B2B expertise, including in the areas of healthcare, manufacturing, professional services, supply chain/ logistics, financial services, AI or security.
  • MBA, or equivalent.

Contract Details:

  • Contract Dates: Rolling (as-needed basis; project timelines to be determined).
  • Location: Remote
  • Rate: To be negotiated based on experience and scope of work.

We look forward to reviewing your application and conducting interviews to learn more about your process, discuss your rates, and ensure a great fit. We’re excited to build relationships with talented partners for future strategy projects!

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
