Summary Statement :
Coordinates plant activities involved with planning, procuring and inventory maintenance of direct materials as required by production plan. Converts production plan into Direct material requirements to achieve optimal materials usage. Advises as to feasibility/consequences of changes to production. Places Direct material orders and schedules all Direct material inbound receivals. Monitors plant Direct material inventories to verify proper rotation. Serves as a focal point of communication between plant departments and corporate office.

Position may include Quality Checks, including but not limited to GMP, HACCP, and Weights.

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities :
- Works with Production Scheduler to develop weekly Direct material requirements as dictated by production plans.
- Converts the one-week production plan into the plant's Direct material requirements.
- Determines the types and quantities of Direct materials to be ordered.
- Provides Direct materials for production by ordering through Prism system.
- Manage RPW - versus targets/OB: Explain inventory position from one month to the next using examples and what actions need to be taken to address inventory variances.
- Possess a good understanding of cycle count process (explain columns on a cycle count variance report and what "booking" a variance does to the inventory, and how it affects planning.
- Reviews with appropriate personnel the necessity for and consequences of change to the production plan. Changes may be caused by Direct material inventory imbalance, revised production requirements, Direct material delays, off-condition raw materials, code life restrictions, mechanical problems, supply problems, or over or under receival of materials. Analyzes and then takes action to adjust Direct material requirements as warranted.
- Communicates Direct material changes to all personnel involved.
- Acts as focal point for all communications concerning Direct materials and plans and coordinates all movement of same inside and outside of the plant.
- Prepares weekly delivery schedules of Direct materials consistent with the workload, production needs and storage capacities.
- Communicates completed arrangements to the appropriate personnel.
- Follows up and reports any problems or deviations from specifications that might have occurred.
- Analyzes and reports shipping discrepancies on all shipments; follows up and takes corrective action as necessary.
- Verifies appointments and traces late deliveries.
- Administers Direct material inventories to optimum quantities.
- Monitors warehouse inventories daily for anticipated demand and proper stock rotation.
- Coordinates anticipated production model changes in Prism system with plant and Office personnel, especially those that are impacted by change.
- Tracks all vendor Quality issues.
- Gathers data necessary and prepares reports concerning Direct material inventories and weekly shipments.
- Gives approval for payment on all invoices concerned with Direct supplies.
- Reports to Materials Manager any information that may result in a claim against a vendor.
- Calls vendors for claims pertaining to shortages, overages, or pricing errors.

- Reports to Materials Manager.
- Deals directly with Corporate Buyers and Materials Managers.
- Works continuously with production Business Unit Manager's Constant contact with receiving personnel.
- Works closely with Production Scheduler and Raw Material Planner. Follows up with Accounts Payable dept. processing claims.
- Maintains contacts with all vendors when having to process claims.
- Deals directly with Operations Quality for proper Direct material specifications. Continually providing feedback to Prism team on systems up grade.
Qualifications/Abilities:
- College degree preferred.
- Must have good working systems knowledge of Prism, Rocet, and Matrics. Microsoft Excel and Word experience required.
- Courses in production and operations management.
- Good human relation skills required getting others to follow directions. Statistical concepts of inventory management preferred.
