ARE YOU READY TO TAKE YOUR CAREER TO NEW HEIGHTS? ARE YOU SEEKING A NEW CHALLENGE IN A DYNAMIC SECTOR?

This is a very exciting and highly innovative time here at Outside.

OUR TRUE NORTH:Outside Interactive, Inc., the premier hub for active lifestyle enthusiasts, offers best-in-class content and experiences to more than 70 million of the world’s most passionate outdoor, wellness, and endurance enthusiasts every month. We inspire a broad and diverse audience to do the activities they love with greater enjoyment, inspiration, and knowledge and are dedicated to making real change in the outdoor and fitness industries.

Outside is seeking a team-oriented digital media planner to join our energetic, growing Ad Marketing team, crafting integrated campaigns across print, digital, events, marketing services, licensing, custom content, and video. The Media Planner will execute media plans for endemic and non-endemic partners, contribute to client campaign ideation, and deliver accurate, effective plans that hit clients' KPIs while maximizing margin — reporting to the Director of Advertising Solutions & Creative Strategy.

The ideal candidate surfs between chaos and precision: quick to brainstorm with the team, sharp enough to turn those ideas into detailed plans clients can act on. You're passionate about digital media, consumer programs, and the outdoor lifestyle, and you see a fast-changing media landscape — AI-driven planning included — as opportunity, not obstacle. You're equally comfortable leading an idea and running with someone else's, and you know when each is called for.

The Position

As a key member of the Media Planning team, you'll own the quality and accuracy of media recommendations, keep internal data and benchmarks current, and support projects with clarity and humility. You'll manage day-to-day deadlines, maintain inventory systems, and build strong relationships across sales and marketing — all while staying sharp on the tools (AI included) shaping where digital advertising is headed.

How You Will Make a Difference:

  • Assist in digital media strategy development for the Outside Sales organization and all advertising partners
  • Develop and manage digital media plans
  • Reserve and/or book campaign products across a variety of platforms
  • Manage agency templates, product specs, and reporting standards
  • Collaborate closely with the Creative Strategists, Client Solutions Partners, Custom Content and Sales teams
  • Work with ad traffickers and product teams on available inventory and offerings
  • Identify opportunities to integrate AI tools into planning, reporting, and optimization workflows to improve speed and accuracy
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

What You Bring

  • 2+ years of experience in a digital media planning/buying position
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with campaign management and ad serving technology: FatTail/AdBook (or other order management systems), Permutive, DoubleClick/Google Ad Manager, Innovid, Prisma, Google Analytics. Salesforce experience a plus, but not required
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Slack and/or Google Workspace
  • Experience analyzing audience data and developing audience targeting strategies
  • Familiarity with basic accounting/math principles; basic statistical analysis experience is a plus
  • Self-starter with strong planning, organizational, and time-management skills; comfortable working with minimal direction and delivering plans ahead of deadline
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Good presentation skills a plus
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with colleagues and vendors
  • Experience managing multiple, competing priorities, duties and/or projects, with proven ability to accommodate evolving responsibilities and last-minute changes
  • Comfort integrating AI tools into daily workflows — using tools like Claude, ChatGPT, or similar to speed up research, draft media plans, analyze campaign data, or streamline reporting

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
