As your initial project assignment, you will support the unique needs of our client as a Microsoft 365 Engineer II. Project Summary

AIS is seeking a mid-level Microsoft 365 Engineer with hands-on experience supporting and implementing Microsoft 365 messaging, identity, and migration solutions. This role is primarily focused on Exchange Online, Exchange hybrid environments, identity integration, and migration execution. The Microsoft 365 Engineer will support both project-based implementation efforts and ongoing operational activities, working closely with architects, project managers, security teams, and customer stakeholders. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Engineer, configure, and support Exchange Online environments within Microsoft 365 tenants.  

  • Assist with design, implementation, and administration of Exchange Hybrid configurations between on-premises Exchange and Exchange Online.  

  • Configure and maintain mail flow components including connectors, accepted domains, remote domains, transport rules, and mail routing policies.  

  • Support identity integration across Microsoft 365 and hybrid environments, including Entra ID synchronization, federation concepts, authentication flows, and directory object management.  

  • Execute mailbox, archive, distribution group, shared mailbox, and resource mailbox migration activities using Microsoft-native and approved third-party tools.  

  • Perform tenant onboarding, domain configuration, DNS cutover support, and migration readiness assessments.  

  • Troubleshoot issues related to hybrid mail flow, free/busy, autodiscover, authentication, directory synchronization, and mailbox provisioning.  

  • Support migration planning and execution for Exchange mailbox moves, tenant consolidations, cutover migrations, staged migrations, and hybrid migrations.  

  • Develop migration runbooks, standard operating procedures, validation plans, rollback procedures, and technical documentation.  

  • Support implementation and troubleshooting of Microsoft 365 security features related to messaging and identity, such as MFA, conditional access dependencies, and basic email protection controls.  

Required For This Opportunity
  • 3–6 years of experience administering and engineering Microsoft 365 and Exchange environments.  

  • Hands-on experience with Exchange Online administration and Exchange hybrid deployments.  

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, Azure AD Connect / Entra Connect, identity synchronization, and hybrid identity concepts.  

  • Experience supporting one or more enterprise messaging migration efforts involving Exchange Online.  

  • Familiarity with mail routing, SMTP, DNS records, message hygiene concepts, and hybrid mail flow troubleshooting.  

  • Experience managing recipients, mailboxes, distribution groups, shared mailboxes, and Exchange policies.  

  • Proficiency with PowerShell for Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, and administrative automation. 

Nice to Have Skills
  • Experience with Exchange Server administration in support of hybrid coexistence.  

  • Experience with Microsoft 365 migration tools and third-party migration platforms.  

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Purview, retention policies, litigation hold, and compliance considerations related to mailbox migrations.  

  • Understanding of conditional access, modern authentication, and legacy authentication dependencies.  

  • Microsoft certifications such as Microsoft 365 Administrator, Messaging, Identity, or related Azure certifications.  

At AIS, we are committed to offering competitive and fair compensation that reflects the skills, experience, and contributions of each team member. The targeted base salary range for this role is $102,000-$154,000 per year. Please note that this range is provided as a guideline and the final offer will be based on several factors, including but not limited to, skillset and competencies, level of experience, education, certifications, and location. We value transparency in our hiring process and are happy to discuss how your unique qualifications align with our compensation structure during the interview process.
